Can't save normally with Pokemon Emerald, VBA

Please help! I've been searching here and there for days. On Pokemon emerald, I can't save normally (Start>>Save). It prevents me from doing stuff like the battle tent. Whenever I save it says "Save failed. Checking the backup memory...Time required: about one minute."

People have said that you should do something with the IPS file that should have came with the rom and you should set the save type to 128k. I have it on 128k, but I can't find the IPS file. It isn't in the download pack.

If anyone knows how to get the IPS file or another way to solve this problem please tell me.

You don't need to use an IPS file. You should have just set the save type correctly to begin with before you created a save file.

All Pokemon games work and save 100% perfectly for me with no hacks or IPS patches in VisualboyAdvance.

Do you have the Save Type as Automatic + Flash 128K. Also, check that your rom is good.
