What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

Texturing OOT

Hey guys,
I'm having a hard time getting my head around this texturing, especially with OOT. So i was wondering if you guys could give me a bit of help.
I know these questions have probably been asked a thousand times before but I have very limited time on the internet these days so i don't have time to go searching.

First, in the texture dump folder I can find all the textures but I can't distinguish one texture from the next. How do u find out what your editing when all you get is a 32x64 texture thats completely brown/green/purple? Also, what is the largest texture you can have? 512x512?

If i want to replace a texture with hires ones, do i just rename the picture to what it previously was in that folder?

Thanks for your help guys.

Well with 1964Video(Newer version of rice video) it should be able to load any texture as long as its a power of 2. A good size for hires textures is 512x512 or 1024x1024

Can't help with the other question.

Use this tool

Regarding the size: As Death--druid said, it has to be a power of to in respect to the original texture dimensions. But, you can't generally say, what will be the "optimal size" of a texture, as it depends on the original dimensions of the texture, the degree of detail, if it will be stretched in game, etc. I am no retexturer but what I read from other artists, you will get a feeling for the right dimensions when you work with it.

good luck,
