    Lightbulb Retexture Website?

    Hey.
First of all, I'm really surprised by the number of responses 1964 has recieved concerning their new Re-Texturing option! The new idea caught on quickly and can easily rejuvenate N64 emulation.
Anyway, I was wondering, is there a website where users can submit these re-texturing projects? Even a quick Geocities "throw-together" would work out well, giving users the ability to go to one spot for major retexturing projects.

That is a good idea, I might make one, but I doubt it will go far without much advertising.

I had the same thought (and registered on the forums just to propose this idea), and saw your post.

I also just started working on a little retexturing project site. Although only partially working now, if there is enough interest in it I will see it through to the end.

    What I envision:
    * Different game sections
    * Original textures shown in a nice list format, with user-submitted textures optionally shown next to them
    * Ratings of textures (see next point)
    * Ability to download a texture pack, either selecting a single user, multiple users, or by highest rating
    * With all of the original textures uploaded, we'll be able to have a good idea of how much of a game has been retextured (percentage-wise)
    * Administration capabilities so people aren't uploading porn in place of princess toadstool

The main benefit of such a site is that people can all work together to retexture a game -- that is assuming there are enough people out there.

Only have the basics done now, but before I actually delve into creating it, I'd like to know it'd have a decent amount of support behind it.

I have started working on a site, my host changed it's signup specs, so its a subdomain of my site. I expect to have it done by this evening.

P.S. It's being made in dreamweaver.

And here we go: Neospy's Hi-Res texture page!

EDIT: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FLASH!

There's not much to show there. And you're using a Free host, and I don't suggest that. If you can get a database up, I'll be impressed, because at the rate you're going you're going to have to do everything manually.

Well, I don't have to do this! But I am. It is not hard (maybe for you!) to do. I added SM64 Cloudscapes to site.

So I take it there's not much interest for the kind of site I mentioned?

No no, my point was based on what Kne posted. You can always upload the packs yourself, but what we need is a database where the creator of a pack can upload the pack or textures without consulting the owner of the site and having the pack out there for anybody to look at immediately. Think something like DeviantART.

Personally, I find this thread does the job perfectly. It's easy to find, isn't off-site, and links to the individual threads rather than just files, so at least the author's comments and stuff is at the same place.
    Mario 64 texture pack, work-in-progress.
