What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.
  • As members seem to have a problem reading the release threads:

Djipi's packs are built for the (Glide64 finale) Plugin. Nolonger supported!
Djipi's packs are built for the (GlideN64) Plugin.
These two Plugins are two completely different pieces of code.

GlideN64.HTC archived packs locked by Djipi are not compatible with use on Glide64, Rice video, nor Jabo video.

Glide64.DAT archived packs locked by Djipi are not compatible with use on GlideN64, Rice video, nor Jabo video.

Djipi has never made a pack for use with Rice video and never will. any packs found in this format are not authorized!

GlideN64 is the new standard and only requires an Radeon 6XXX.
This is a somewhat older GPU and should be readily available.
Do everyone a favor and upgrade!

yeah, finally the awesome pack is done! thx you two for making something so amazing! :D

but unfortunately i have a really weird problem. I'm using glide napalm 1.1 and the textures work fine, but somehow loading the pack causes the controller plugin to get broken. :plain: so while loading the textures (in pj 64 btw) an error screen which says that there is a problem with the n-rage plugin and everything gets stuck. As i tried jabo's standard plugin the pack loaded, but i couldn't do anything since the cursor cruised around on its own. Thats kinda strange ^^

But still, thx for the hard work again =)

Here you go.
http://www.megaupload.com/de/?d=G288HP0F

Please note that the lava textures in Planet Zebes unfortunately may cause slowdowns. It's not a problem with the textures but with the plugin. There are also a few less important zipped textures with the same problem. Being zipped they won't load - I just wanted to include those textures nevertheless. Also the "SMASH" writing in the title screen is pretty displaced - I haven't figured out how exactly this one works.

Anyway, have fun!

Hi guys,

Great pack!!! Super Nice Bros! ;) I congratulate you! :)

Yep, the slowdown is caused in Rice by the duplicate texture name bug. Look at the first set of numbers (the DRAM CRC, the first part of the file name) in the texture names and you will see that they are the same. Your "overflow" zipped file is full of them. I found the same thing in the planet zebes folder. But, I'm sure you noticed this. This is the same problem I have with CLOD.

This is cause for even more enthusiasm for a texture caching option in Rice Video. ;) :)

I am not trying to hijack your thread here but those who are interested should chime in on my CLOD thread to see who is currently trying to do something about it. If you would like to read up on the background of the problem read THIS. If you can contribute in any way, please do. If you just want this option/fix like the rest of us who use Rice, chime in, cast your vote and get involved. Getting a texture caching option in Rice Video (like Glide/Napalm) will fix (bypass) this texture name duplicate related slowdown bug and improve performance for not only SSB and CLOD with duplicate texture names, but for ALL games when using Rice Video for Hi-res textures as the textures will never need to load in real time during play. :)

Ok, enough "rallying the troops".

Bad Randolph and Pietschie, just thought I'd hint to you that you should update your first post with the pack download. ;)

Again, great work!

TTYL,
Jay

Had a question, when i was trying to change the settings, it says it won't allow me to change the Game Default Option and the Current Game Option. Any idea?

I had the same issue with Glide 1.1 Napalm as Another N00b. It kept happening the other day, and no matter what I tried it wouldn't work correctly. I would get some new textures, but was missing the majority of the backgrounds. Frustrated, I shut it down for the day. Then, I pick it up today with the same settings and magically all the new textures were there. It was GLORIOUS!! I played it for a while, but tried tweaking different settings to optimize it for recording. All of a sudden, I was back to the same problem. They were same textures I was missing before, come back to haunt me.

I tried deleting the cache in desperation, praying that something didn't load correctly. After that didn't work, I tried Mudlord's 6.1.4 plugin with the exact settings posted by Pietschie at the top of this page. It's kind of like an old tv - sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't. The furthest I could get was the 3rd stage in single player, but most of the time it crashed in stage 1.

I forgot to mention, that with the Rice 1.6.4 I was experiencing lag in planet zebes, and I have a quad core q9450 cpu with an nvidia 8800 gt 512mb (even in window mode at 640x480).

What is the best plugin to use right now for this to get all the textures to show up? I want to be able to change the antiailising all the way (like it was before). I REALLY want the new Hyrule castle brick texture to show up.

Kyo

Yeah..
Thanks for providing a mirror! For those how can't get every texture to load properly, try using Rice 6.1.4 with the following setting:

Make sure you have the same options ticked.

The Napalm 1.1 should also display all the textures and should have no problems with the planet zebes stage.

I had problems too with Rice+Hyrule, but after using the settings posted by Pietschie all the textures show up properly. Of course we still have the slowdown problem on our hands..

On the other hand, the Glide plugin has no slowdown whatsoever, having a cache option, but it still causes weird problems and apparently random crashes..

Damn. I still think the Glide plugin is the better option, but just because it shows all the glowing effects on the characters. Rice/Mudlord's doesn't do that right?

Just tried it and it's really awesome:p

What i really like the most in that pack are the backgrounds. About Planet Zebes i doesn't get any slowdown it doesn't get lower than 60fps even with 4 players. FYI, i'm using Glide64 Napalm 1.1 plugin. So yeah The SMASH thing is fucked up for me other than that everythings is chill.

BTW, are you completely done with the pack?

what settings are you running them on? i seem to have a problem with using that.

i have found that if you increase the ram size from 4-8 it goes away :D

Where is this setting? I couldn't find it in either plugin.

The only deviation I have from Pieschie's settings is that Fine Texture Mapping on the In-game settings is fully checked, whereas Pieschie's is only partially enabled (box). What are your settings for the other tabs?

The lag you are experiencing is caused by the texture name duplicate bug in Rice video I mentioned in my post above.

It has nothing to do with your CPU or graphics card. What's happening is, these textures that have duplicate DRAM CRC's (first part of their file names) are being reloaded from your hard drive on every frame.

The textures in the "overflow" zip file in the pack are the same type and will cause slowdown as well. That is why Bad Randolph and Pietschie zipped them up, so they wouldn't be loaded and cause slowdown in game where they would be used when using Rice video.

This is a relevant problem and awareness needs to spread so that we can encourage a TEXTURE CACHING option in Rice Video! Tell your friends. ;) Let's get everyone involved. :) Please take the time to read my post above (#243) and follow the links to learn more about it.

SSB is only one of many games that would benefit from this being added to Rice. As a bonus, ALL games with texture packs for Rice would see a performance increase as well, as hi-res textures would never have to load during play.

Let's make this happen,
Jay

This pack is seriously great. Only if it weren't so prone to crashing. On Napalm it's totally smooth, no slowdown whatsoever and all the textures display. You guys did a great job, this is everything I hoped it would turn out to be.

Thanks Biohazard, upping it to 8 helped a tiny bit. It still crashes, though, before I can beat singleplayer. Which gfx plugin are you using?

Hmmm. I just fired up Glide 1.1 again and it appeared to load 2260ish textures. Then, I promptly got a CTD.

You should try my settings if you didn't, it might help you maybe. With the default ones i'm gettting 2260 too and then crash other than that it works perfectly for me no crash, all textures.....
