How to use a "texture pack"?:
http://www.freewebs.com/jantarctica/texturepacks.htm

How to retexture?:
http://www.rxgaming.net/images/papermario_highrez/retexture_tutorial.html

Used:
- Project64 1.6
- Rice's Video Plugin 6.1.1 beta 10 - Stable

Remember:
You may only use a commcercial rom if you own the actual game. The 24h "rule" is a myth!

By the way, JHdD.....

Can you please link people to my build download thread instead of making repacks of old versions? If you link there, people can get access to the latest "Stable" version, as well as the debugger builds, development builds, as well as the documentation.

Thanks :)

5. Rename all the “_” for “ “.

:ermm:

What does that mean?

That sentence in the tutorial was made for the texturepacks on my site, because al my packages have "_" in it instead of spaces in their name (If the name of the folder in incorrect the emu won't load the textures).

4. Download a Texture Pack and unzip it to C:\Program Files\Project64 1.6\Plugin\hires_texture\
5. Rename all the “_” for “ “

Jeez what happens if you replace the _ for spaces in "the_legend_of_zelda"?

i've got a question: can you use more then one texture pack for a game?

Yes and No,

No because they would replace ones that they already did

Yes because you can use ones that it didn't do. (In other words, if a cell-shaded Zelda mod only did items you could use a realistic world textures mod.)

you could also mix and match em like just plop random stuff in.

This Thread is marked for unstickying.
Could someone please create a Howto, which don't link to an outdated website and includes the links to the newest versions of glide und 1964video with some pictures? If no one volunteers, I have to do it myself, will wait some days.

Can anyone confirm that the instructions in this thread are still correct four years later?

I'm using the community Ocarina of Time pack (http://www.emutalk.net/threads/51481-Zelda-Ocarina-of-time-Community-Retexture-Project-V6-Development-Topic) V6. Put it in the /plugin/hires_texture folder, as THE LEGEND OF ZELDA and THE_LEGEND_OF_ZELDA (once each, to test). It's pointed at the right directory in Settings -> Directories. I've enabled "Load hi-res textures if available" in 1964video (my understanding is that this is the continuation of Rice's, so the instructions should apply).

1964video - Nothing, plays as normal with normal textures
Rice's Daedelus - Wild texture glitches, none of them the new ones.
Glide64 - Renders 1 frame (the NINTENDO 64 logo) but nothing else.
Jabo's Direct3D 6/8 - Plays as normal, with normal textures.

Have I missed something? I've looked carefully and can't see anything that I could try differently.

Hey guys,

Long time reader, first time poster here. I've written an up-to-date (hopefully ) guide for using high res texture packs on my blog, if anyone needs any help:

http://emoolation.blogspot.com/2011/07/high-resolution-textures-for-nintendo.html

Hope it helps someone.

I'm having a problem getting the OOT texture pack to load. I just started downloading emu stuff recently so everything is the latest version. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit.

Project 64 1.6
Mudlords Rice video 6.1.4

I followed all the guides I could find, yes I extracted the textures to a highrez folder (had to make it), checked the name etc. Yes I enabled "use high rez" etc. Everything matches up but I get stock textures.

My only guess is that my rom has a different internal name? Under rom info it's named " THE LEGEND OF ZELDA " - with spaces surrounding it. I tried adding them to the texture folder but windows deletes them =/

My rom's CRC1 is 0xEC7010B7 and CRC2 is 0x7615D72B.

On a side note I can't adjust the Antiailiasing or AF bars ... they're greyed out.

Any help would be appreciated in tracking this down.

Hmmm.... Sounds like you've done everything right. Do you have Bmglib.dll in the main emulator folder? In the plugin folder you have a folder labeled "hires_texture" correct? Which you then placed the texture pack in labeled "THE LEGEND OF ZELDA". I made a mistake once and named the folder "hires_textures" and it didn't work. Took me a while to figure something so simple out. you should check.

Also I don't think the rom matters, they all have the same internal name, unless the rom has been modified, which I don't think your case is.
