View Full Version : Zelda - the Minish Cap ( Japanese! )

Does anyone already have Zelda the Minish cap ? It's a great game with elements of all previous zeldas, and it makes fun to play it, but... Im stuck past the first Dungeon already !

MasterPHW got stuck at that place, too !

After beating the first dungeon, the way to the second dungeon is blocked by those well-known workers on the screen, does anyone already knows how to get 'em away ? It's just hard to get it what to do when the game is in plain Japanese :(

( Ha , my 1000th post and it's even no spam... :D )

You don't have to go in there now, you have to go in the place of the first screenshot to learn a technique with the sword then go to the place of the second screenshot and talk to the guard then make the techinique that you learned and he will leave you to pass. Great game, the other screenshots are from my actual progress. :icecream:

I don't want to play this game until its in english:

1) I do not know what the hell the story is
2) I can't talk to anyone in the game and understand what they are saying

Kinda takes the fun out of it when you don't know what the story is heh ;)

This game has barely been released in Japan (Nov 4th is the official date, should be Nov 4th in Japan by now), and already many people are completing it. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Umm... yeah well, it's only 8 days until it comes out in Europe, but i can't still resist playing it, its just addictive !! It's just the Zelda feeling i need. I also understood some of the main story parts...

Now, i got a new problem : What has to be done to come over the swamp in the South west area ?

MasterPhW
November 4th, 2004, 10:50
I will buy it 1000% when it's out in Europe!!!
It's such a great game, probably has a great story, too! Many new and great ideas, superb gfx and a mix of the best sound of all Zeldas. The Drawing style is a mix of OoT and WW... OMG, that's such a great game, can't wait to play it on MY real GBA!!!
Love it! 2 all who enjoyed this game like me: please buy it, it's worth!

ScottJC

Well yeah, its Zelda, you gotta buy it, I was merely stating that playing the game when you can't understand the Dialogue is pointless, you'd have more fun if you could. It looks good though.

I'm nearly through the game, but thelast boss is a pain in the ass :( That game is a nice piece of software, i'll play the european version afterwards (it comes out tomorrow if you trust the release date, yay ! And America has to wait until 2005)

Some life feed of the last endboss'!

The European version of Minish cap is out! Umm, well it's at least already floating on the inet ;) The first think that caught my eye was the logo, it's Link's standard sword instead of the minish cap. Let's see what's the story like ;)

I've been playing the english version, must say, this is awesome, but i'm puzzled by something in dungeon 1... how the smeg do i get this silly treasure chest? don't tell me, i like figuring this stuff out :P

I'm definatly going to buy this game as soon as I see it... it looks like Zelda and feels like Zelda... must have it...

Heres a tip on that one, use the giant barrel.

Clements
November 11th, 2004, 16:18
You don't get that chest until much later on in the dungeon when you guide the giant lilypad (allowing you to cross over). It contains a small key.

Zelda games were killed when Oot came out... I've lost my faith in Zelda ever since that day... I mean, after playing games for 10 years, Nintendo comes along and decides that they should put a fairy in the game that has you pressing up c every 10 seconds! They should make a mode called "Uber Retard Mode"... If all the puzzling is taken out a puzzle game, what's so fun about it?!?

ScottJC
November 12th, 2004, 02:05
lol, are you kidding? You signed up for this? Let me tell you why you are wrong...

It doesn't tell you what to do, it doesn't solve the dungeons for you, it merely helps point you in the right direction, go ahead go to the first dungeon, wait for the fairy to tell you how to solve every puzzle in it. 90% of the time all it does is give a hint on where to go next... and it isn't even that frequent as you go onwards with the game...

Right enough, fairy does do it a lot at the begining of the game, but it doesn't want you to be stuck in the village for the rest of eternity.. and yeah it does tell you how to push blocks, but it only does it once, whats the problem? Bit of a petty excuse not to like this game.

Prove me wrong, I finished OOT you didn't. Complain in the right thread next time, we don't care that you don't like Zelda, and this isn't OOT we're talking about. If you have any counter arguement please get your facts straight first.

And I can say because I did finish the game, several times ;)
But there are other good zelda games :)

I donīt know how to pass this part. Itīs in swamp dungeon. Please Help!!

Have you got the mole claws ? You need the to dig the key out of that blocks on the right. The claws are somewhere in the dungeon.

Ly Mathews
November 12th, 2004, 17:21
Yes and to get the mole claws you have to put a bomb where has three squares in the floor.

ScottJC
November 12th, 2004, 19:22
OoT sucked big time :P Annoying fairy as well.

But there are other good zelda games :)
Then you must've liked it somewhat, I regard it as one of the best games of all time, imo if it can hold my attention for the entire game it has to be good, because that is very rare for me. however nobody cares this isn't a debate on OOT damnit, this is a whole different beast than OOT is. Frankly, if you won't play because of the Fairy then its pretty petty is what i'm saying.

In Minish cap is a talking hat which says stuff so I suggest you people who find fairys annoying stay away, this isn't that much better.

Entering this thread just to proclaim your hatrad for Zelda is trolling imo, and is totally unwanted in this one.

Now lets get back on topic shall we?

-Shadow-
November 12th, 2004, 19:52
Doom, i really like to have your problems. What's your problem with the fairy ? Is it too white or what ? Just a little annoyance like the fairy is no reason for me not to play the game or to dislike it.

Anyways, i relly like Minish cap, because they integrated stuff from all zelda games IMO! The postmen and anju from Majoras mask, soundtrack from lttp, the sword of the four from four swords adventures, etc...

And i really like the difficulty, it's as challenging as LttP but IMO it has got too few dungeons. But let's see what the US version has to offer, it's said that the US version comes later because they build in some extra stuff.

-Head South-west;
-Use the sword/clone thing to push block;
-Make way to swamp, pushing boulders for easy access as you go;
-Stand in swamp, Ezlo says about needing footwear;
-Get to shoe shop in Town;
-Shoe guy will fall asleep;
-Shrink, talk to the Minish;
-Go to Lon Lon Ranch, head south using vortexes;
-Get Mushroom from Syrup's hut;
-Ruturn to shoe shop, talk to sleeping owner;
-You get the Pegasus Boots.

Not for all questions, scott. There's one left : According to the W-T's, the Light Arrows can only be obtained before entering the fifth dungeon, is there any way to get them after completing the fifth dungeon ?

:paperbag: how do you get to Syrup's hut.im can't get over the water

Clements
November 12th, 2004, 22:42
You have to get at it from the North, through Lon Lon Ranch. You have to shrink and find the spare key in a pot inside. Once through this, you can access the vortexes which allow you to access Minish Woods from the North. You do not get flippers until later on in the game.

You need all three of the gold kinstones hidden in the swamp, press L in front of the statues and fuse them. This will damage the rock in the way. When the third Kinstone is fused, the rock will be destroyed and you can pass.

-Shadow-, do you have the content of the chest of the screenshot? The Light Arrows are inside of a chest like that, that's all i could remember. So, to get the Light arrows you have to make a fusion of Kinstones(what more could be?) with somebody, then this character will show a chest like that(i think it's the one of the screenshot) but i can't remember which character.

Even if it takes me days to figure something out i don't ask because i think of the satisfaction i'll get when i solve it :D

Anyway.. I finished dungeon 2 and got the neat new sword, this game rules, i'm hooked, no game i've played in months has kept my attention this long...

Use the Yellow staff to flip the blue pots, then they can make you small. Ah, it would be nice if you reduce the height of your sig a bit, it feels a little bit too high ;) If you need some space to up it, go to www.1mb.at, it's german, but self-explanatory ;)

Ah, and you must go into the house and put the fire off to stop the chimney from smoking.

one more thing how do you get in this house when your big. i need to put out the fire

Clements
November 16th, 2004, 21:08
You probably haven't returned the first book yet if the guy doesn't let you in his house as normal size Link. It's in a different house to the East of where you are on top of a book shelf. You need to push it off as Minish Link and then collect it as normal size. Return the book to the library, and then the guy in the pic will let you in. You can then put out the fire and go up the chimney.

I love this game. I love the new gadgets. Who needs Half-Life's gravity gun when you've got the Gust Jar?

It's really kinda bizarre how it's simultaneously a lot like Link to the Past and also in a lot of ways feels like the later games like Wind Waker and Ocarina of Time.

Can you think of any other examples of a game that went from 2D --> 3D --> 2D and scooped so much good stuff from previous games and turned out so well? GTA Advance? Did Metroid: Zero incorporate any good stuff from the Gamecube versions?
