The first thing you should tell us is your system specs if you need help. Tell us what plugins you are using also.

try using jabo d3d6 1.5.1. you have to dl pj64 and take the plugin from it because for whatever reason jabo only releases it like that.

is S3 virge pci(325) a video card?
rcgamer
January 5th, 2004, 21:01
well that means it is an onboard graphics chip. Ive found from my experience that they are not good . I would suggest getting a graphics card. You can get pretty good ones for less than a 100$. also from system information you can find out all the other specs of your computer.
you might try making sure your drivers are up to date. just type in s3 graphics in search bar and look for drivers.

what card do u recommend?
and is there neway i can run it with the card i have?
and about Jabo how do i get that 2 work

Your current card will probably work fine with Glide64 + evoodoo (you can get them both from the download-section). I'd recommend Glide64 0.5 + evoodoo Nemesis for the best quality, and Glide64 0.42 + evoodoo 3.25 to run everything at a nice speed but for *some* games *probably* buggier.
And if you want a new card for N64 emulation I'd recommend a Geforce 3.

to use jabos plugins you need to move the plugins to your 1964 plugins folder from pj 64. and you need to move the rsp.dll there as well. the rsp must be enabled.
im sure there is a way to possibly run it on your pc but someone who has that chip will have to tell you.
i would recommend a geforce fx card. I got mine for a little under a hundred bucks and have not had any problems with. but there are many good ones.
i would like to see your processor speed posted. if your pc is to old then a high powered card might not help. But dont fret im sure someone here who knows more will be able to help you out more. on the first page of system information there should be a line that tells you about your processor.

I recommend any Video Card that is 32MB or higher. An AGP interface on your motherboard would be an asset, but if you do not have one, you can still get a ahlf decent card like an Nvidia GeForce4 MX 420

A Geforce FX5200 is more prefered than MX 420 since FX5200 is DX 9 compatible.

how do i found how many mb mine is?
Clements
January 5th, 2004, 22:50
Since you have a Savage, even if it had 512MB, it would still be below spec. so it doesn't matter really.
I'd suggest your follow the advice in vleespet's post at the top of this page.

An S3 Virge doesn't belong in a semi-modern PC - it's a truly atrocious card. You'll be well advised to pick up a cheap graphics card (you'll get a decent one for very little, if you want to settle for less than top of the line).

Get eVoodoo from:
http://www.emutalk.net/forumdisplay.php?forumid=72
...and extract it into your emulator directory.

The 1964 folder is what I mean, where the 1964 executable is located.

now where do i put voodoo in the same spot?
Trotterwatch
January 6th, 2004, 00:05
C:/1964
Put Evoodoo there
C:/1964/plugins
Put glide64 there
Of course the paths may be different for you, but the logic is the same.

I mentioned this earlier... the S3 Virge doesn't really do HW Accelerated graphics (it's very old tech), so I think you are wasting your time.
I'd be interested to see if you can get anything running well - as I suspect that OpenGL plugins sometimes can fall back to Software based GL (may be wrong though).
AFAIK your card has a whopping 2MB of memory.

Depending on the processor you have, you have several choices. A voodoo 3 would be a vast improvement over what you have and would cost less than $25 I am sure (Ebay or something).

Is Ebay the only place to get a voodoo, because its so hard to find one these days. If it is that cheap, I would be intrested in getting one to run glide64 which is rapidly evolving into one of the best plugins now able to process hi-resolution framebuffer. Anyone know if you can get it any electronic store?

With earlier video hardware, because they don't support 32-bit color nor 24-bit color, if you don't change the Windows desktop color setting to 16-bit, you will get a video init failure error message.

That's all academic in this case though, as I said there is no way a S3 Virge will work.
