This is what I get when loading Pong. I don't get any video! I just get the debugger. I need to get me some more stuff to test! Dolwin does look better with each release - now with program icon! :)

This version seems different from the one used for the screenies though: it has no GUI interface (for game loading) nor the quick taskbar in the upper side of the screen. Maybe this is a version without the code needed for commercial games and/or the newest code?

EDIT: I tried something on the v0.0.8 and in fact I can get nothing (not even demos nor Freeloader) to work. Is this an old release and the author got confused when publishing it?

looks like a patch to make freeloader work.... "freeldr.ppf" sounds like a patch alright :)

Sounds like Evrain is confusing Dolwin with Dolphin :)

Ok ok, now I am completely lost. Dolwin isn't Dolphin but there are TWO emulators out there??? One of them can run everything (maybe even Windows XP without crashes) while the other must be:
a. run from the debugger
b. doesn't work with Frreeloader
Explanations are very much appreciated. Othe question: how you test a not-DOLed game?

sonicadvance: it looks it failed to read the IdentPlugin (plugin spec) function of the PAD plugin...
about freeloader I got it working with the freeloader DOL, not with ISO, in older
versions. Check aboutbox as it says 0.08 for homebrewn debug.

had the same problem when i copied the new version in folder with the old one in it. delete the folder, unpack the new version and it should work.

You might also need to delete registry settings...
btw, f5 is run aswell. And for homebrew stuff, you need to choose the homebrew gfx plugin.

You must choose "video plugin for homebrewn" to get graphics.
Yes, emu authors usually talk to each other a bit :P
Or9 has been the main coder so far, but other people have helped.

So is this GPL'ed? Now or in the future?

The first versions were open source, but it's now closed...

no wonder why the emu is so behind at emuateing th gc!1964 was like that non open source i think and than it became open source and things realy speed up in the emulation of the n64! i think a open source gc emu whould make faster waves than a clossed source one nemu!
but still nemu gave out some n64 infor.!
what the gc emu needs is zilmar spec base on the cpu and dsp the ati gfx chip!
it should start out at hle and than goto lle than to a high level emulation spec plugin system! going closed source will only slow down gc emulation as when some emus like corn and some other n64 emu started out.
i have been around here ever since 1998! and i learn alot about emulation, by reading allkinds of threads about them.but cause program is so txet based like it boards me every time i goto stduy or to do any thing in c or c++!

The emulator isnt 'behind' with emulating the GC, its up to whatever the developers have had the time and knowledge to do and attempt.
Open sourcing most likely wouldnt help a thing, the amount of people that have any knowledge of the GC hardware is very limited, and the way the gc scene seems to be is that the info is shared between various groups as it is.
If you looked at Dolwin, you'd notice it already has a plugin system.

That the emu is closed-source doesn't really mean that noone can help out. The people that actually know anything about the GC still has access to source if they have ideas, and talk to the author(s) on a regular basis.

how did the dolwin team make ppf files?
like say the freeloader patch ppf file???
i whould like to learn how!
Evrain
January 20th, 2004, 21:00
It's the standard for patching files of a certain dimension (it is used from systems more powerful than PSX), and it's the equivalent of small roms' IPS.
