I've been wanting to use my Xbox controller as the default controller here for some time, but I kept forgetting. Now that I've re-installed Windows, I seem incapable of getting my box to recognize that I HAVE an Xbox controller attached to the USB. Anyone ever have weird problems like that? I seem to recall it having been a pain in my ass to install ages ago, but it had been a nice year or so since I installed it originally. If it doesn't come up from PnP, like normal USB devices do, does that mean maybe something's wrong with my controller or the cord? I haven't touched my controller in ages, since my Xbox is nonfunctioning, but maybe something's up in a physical manner, not just Win being tarded?

yeah, I found them on Xbox-scene just a bit ago
The problem remains, but I'm re-doing my USB connection. It fell apart when I was trying to check it, so maybe that was my rpoblem all along. Whoops.

hrm. Looks like I just win the award for most shoddily constructed wire ever. Quite a bit of work later, and it sorta works. I think I finally figured out how to make it stop sucking, so I'll redo it in a few days, but, um, thanks for the advice on the driver, guys =)

I just wanted to put a quick bump in here, in case anyone has been playing with a keyboard when they have an Xbox in the house. Holy crap, go get an extension cord for your XB controller, splice it, connect each wire, color to color, with a USB plug, minus the Xbox yellow cord, and then install the drivers that are linked in this thread. it's like a $5 expenditure that you will pat yourself on the back for later.
