Hey! i came to this link hoping to talk about big birds from Australia!!! All i hear is this technical mumbo jumbo...

Nah im just joking =P . I just wanted to say hello. Im a newbie to this forum and N64 emulation in general. I wanted to compliment the community here for its helpfullness and muturity. Its amazing the work programers put into this hobby and thier responsiveness/unselfishness in thier work.

I have a quick question though, would anyone be able to direct me to a thread that has information on the best settings/emulators to use on various games ? Im sorry , i tried to use search and i get alot of information on individual games, but nothing with the collective information in one spot. Oh and one more thing, does anyoe know where i can find the "stfunoob" rom ? =P jk

Have you been to http://www.smiff.clara.net/ ? It's a great place where you can learn the basics about N64 emulation and obtain tools that will help you.

It won't have actual game settings, though, you hit the nail on the head with the search feature. If you have a problem with any game, be sure to search these threads. I can almost guarantee that it has been spotted already and someone has suggested various settings that you could try yourself. Also, try experimenting with plugins yourself, you will soon have favourites for certain games - I know I did! I also had a lot of fun doing it :)

Thank you Clements =D! I have that site bookmarked and find it very informative. I see your always the first to offer advice in this forum and cherryroms Clements. I really have to bow to you sir, you do so much to ease the frustrations of the newbs in this community.

Yes the search feature is remarkable! I cant stand when people are too lazy to look at sticky threads or even bother to use it. Something i woudl love to see in the future(if it doesnt exist), is a downloadable document listing all of the games and what emulator/plug in/configuration works best to run them. Something like:

Game Best Emulator(s) Plugins Settings

??? ??? ??? ???

That in the very least would be very helpfull, although i know its alot of work and alot of games work differently for different systems. Hmmm perhaps even a section of the message board listed by games. You can not make new threads and can only add to the posts with the game as the tittle. Moderators can remove poor information.

Smiff's 2nd law of emulation states:
You can either have emulator development, or useful compatibility lists, but not both.

To put it another way: you can either have games that definately can't be played, and know which, or have the possibility of playing all games, but not know for sure which!

It's similar to Heisenberg's uncertainty principle :p

edit: i reworded the law to make it easier to understand ;)

haha =D , that makes sense, i suppose doing a search here for the game isnt so bad. Thank you for your replies guys. I must admit that some of the fun is tweaking everything to run games the best, oddly enough ;). I am learning quite a bit about CPU/graffic processing.
