Hi,

Im wondering which emulator to use with my new PC. I expect Ill end up using a few of them intermittently, but which would you recommend for an initial go with these specs?:

Athlon XP 2800
ATi Radeon 9800 Pro
512 MB RAM
Win 2000 Pro

Thanks

Whichever one you want. Christ I hate this question. There are but a handful of N64 emulators out there, fewer if you leave out the long dead ones (like Corn). Try them all and reach the conclusion for yourself. It's ultimately more satisfying.

Definetely try PJ64 and 1964. That doesn't mean you should limit yourself to those 2, however.

Really I suppose im just treading water as my computer is dead at the moment and the company I bought it from are being, shall we say, less than efficient about sending someone to repair it. Already spent about £20 on calls to their pathetically bad call centre. grr

You should use pj64 for your PC specs. PJ64 is the most stable (at the moment, might change when 1964 comes out with its new version soon) emulator out there, with Jabo's plugins, it is pretty much designed to relate with the core since he developed the emulator plugins for the emulator with Zilmar making the core.

1964 is the most compatible emulator, but there is issues with stability with Azimers plugins that work quick, they kind of speed up your game along with it, sometimes (ie.Turok).

Nemu64 is the fastest newest version of an emulator, although Corn is the fastest emulator its a litle old now, and has poor compatibility. Nemu64 is good, and has good audio, but isnt as compatible with ROMS.
EDIT: 1964's new version is rumoured to be faster than Corn, but I do not beleive that rumour to be true until it is released by the end of the millenium)

TR64, well I dont know much about TR64 since I cant get it to work on my PC, it doesnt matter Im stuck with PJ64 and 1964, and like it.
