What happens to your Username when you die?

Yes, really!

I know there was a similiar thread about the subject of dying on the net (not literally!) but this is more a ethical dillema which raises the question if the person dies and the administrators are notified would they delete that person's username leaving it open for another person to take it thus stealing that person's identity?

Would they leave it in the data base so that person's membership's appears active or would they simply make that name impossible for another to take?

And what's stopping someone, say in a hundred years, of taking our usernames? I mean, can you copyright a username?

Imagine in 2107 someone pinches Zilmar's name and he's a real noob and he posts alot of stoopid questions in PJ64 9.7 (A revision every 10 years!) The real Zilmar would be rolling in his grave! :p

Well, I thought it was a valid question. It's not like I was asking if avatars go to heaven! :D

So you upload to heaven and download if you go to hell. Does that mean if your server stalls you're in Purgatory?

Hmm... I better upgrade to a better network...

HTAFC will rise again!!!
Most forums at some stage in their life (Emutalk has done this) will have some sort of software upgrade that involves users registering again.

I doubt the dead people would be re-registering then.... poor Zimliar :flowers:

Under normal circumstance’s who knows, there are some footballers who have their shirt numbers retired when they die.

Well, if you're really serious,

Pretty much nothing. If a user abandons his or her account, even if it is because the person died, that's no reason to delete the account. The posts are still needed.

Of course, I'm just making an assumption.

No really. I know various vbulletin boards updated and the accounts are not deleted.

Maybe someone should do a poll on the ratio of members dead (including brain dead) and not dead (excluding the undead).

That way we can be safe in the knowledge, er...that we're not talking to dead people?

*whispers* I text dead people!

How would the dead people respond to the polls? Not answer? - well some non-dead people might not answer either :p

At your service, dood!
I'm more concerned with what happens after you die in general than what happens to physical possessions or usernames hehe.

Stoopid is as stoopid does... Same applies to being dead I guess... The question is: is a live dumb person smarter than a dead smart person?
