I am thinking on buying a webcam... But i need some recomendations. I never thought i would get one (never liked them), so i really know nothing on what should expect on buying...

I'm very short on mony now, so i think i won't buy nothing more expensive than 50 USD.

...Oh! and some questions:
* How good is the quality of webcams?
* How good are they for other porpuses different from videochatting?, like taking still photos, etc...
* I think the most important, how good (or bad) are transmition speeds to the webcam->pc, and pc->net nowadays?

Thanx in advance to anyone that can give me some feedaback on that!

i have a logitech quickcam express which costed me about 30 bucks (i think). displays in 320x240 at halfway decent quality (means you can recognize what the hell it is you are showing). taking photos with it rather hurts, but it serves my purpose. i reckon all webcams are connected via usb (havent seen otherwise) so you wont have troubles with slow transmission.

meh, webcams am teh sux unless you desperatley need something cheap.. best bet is to get a descent digital camera that way you'll have great stills as well as a good webcam

Do you really want to put a really good web came through the riggors of day to day use which many web cam's get?

Chances are if you buy a really decent digital camera it going to cost lots of money, and I'm not sure you can use one in the same way as a web cam anyway :cyclops:

I have a logitech quickcam express (which I wouldn't recommend... it's bad quality) and I have a Logitech quickcam pro 4000 (which is 1000000x better quality and has fairly nice still shot quality(although I have/use a digital camera for that), but it cost me $120 CAD (sale price), so it's out of the price range)...

But I definitely would say no to a quickcam express, it is recognizable, but that's about as far as it goes.
