Unreported Yoshi's Story bug

The left side of the screen flickers with part of the frame. I suspect it's a buffer problem. Enabling double and triple buffering didn't fix it.

Forgive me for being stupid...but

Glide64 should work on any computer that uses a 3dfx glide based card. These are:

3dfx Voodoo Banshee
3dfx Voodoo 1
3dfx Voodoo 2
3dfx Voodoo 3
3dfx Voodoo 4
3dfx Voodoo 5

or any other card based on these.

If you do not have one of these cards, do NOT email me asking if it works,
because it probably doesn't. If you have a card other than the ones listed
above, use another plugin instead, or use the a glide wrapper. See
section 6 for more details on this.

In here : Hacktarux wrapper with hardware frame buffer emulation. Files and feedback - Emu X Haven

There's the latest public Glide64 build and latest official Glide wrapper, with HWFBE support. You'll need to use the provided Glide wrapper in the archive to use the plugin. Further in that thread, I posted some unofficial builds of mine. Note however that I don't really offer support for them, and that I consider them to be by large experimental.

If it's been reported, you might want to add it to known game issues.

Anyways...

Am I doing something wrong?

Glide64 may or may not have issues with this game, but I have found that Jabo's Direct3D 6 will fix most issues in this game, if you are looking to use a DirectX plugin instead of Glide64. If you want to try Glide64, though, go ahead.

make sure you have the latest RDB and all drivers up to date
You say that in every N64 help thread, pretty much. If you would have even tested this game out yourself, you would have seen that the Project64 RDB has absolutely nothing to do with these issues. That's all some of you ever do is blame it on the RDB, blame it on the fact that the user is not using Project64 (which is not true, in this case), or blame it on the hardware specifications. Graphics issues are usually caused by the graphics plugin rather than the emulator you're using or the PJ64 RDB. In fact, I can name a hundred games that work better in an emulator besides Project64, and I'm sick of seeing everyone saying "Use Project64; it's the best!" everytime someone reports an emulation issue, though this happens in other emulation sites more than it does here on EmuTalk.

klosterdev, you're not doing anything wrong, its just judging from that log in my program you just used, you're video card doesnt support the technical features needed to use HWFBE in the wrapper. Which means, that framebuffer effects can be pretty slow if they are used in Glide64.

[See previous page for mudlord's reply.]

I forgot something. If you do decide to use Jabo's Direct3D 6 instead, enable the "Normal Color Combiner" option on the Advanced tab of the plugin configuration.

Look, I absolutely love Glide64. To me, it's the best N64 video plugin ever made. It has the most features, has the highest FPS, emulates things almost perfectly (like the bowser-to-peach painting in SM64 works perfectly and so does the start menu in zelda 64) and everything.

The only thing is that Glide64 requires a good video card. nVidias do pretty good on them, and ATi's are pretty good too. Unfortunately, as I've said before, ATi's stock drivers suck.

OK, so, anyways, update all (and I mean ALL) your drivers. If you have an ATi card, try using the Omega Drivers, but don't bother using those on nVidia cards--the Omega Drivers are pretty bad on nVidia cards. Also, update your audio drivers, and if you have an AMD processor update the processor drivers too (but Intel doesn't let you).
