Trying To Loading Images With Chanka..

New member
..Well iv'e been trying for 2 days straight and i STILL have failed miserably trying to get my images to load (CDI is what i generally use) iv'e tried everything up too now..chagin ASPI layers, using different emu's different bios's,even reformatted, did my PC gd, but nothing changed in this department.

So i was wondering if anyone cud lend a hand. (plz dont tell me to wait for the next release thats just obivous..but tedious)

And post SOMETHING even if its telling me that my 2k cant support it. I seen a few people with the same problem, BUT, everyone just ignored them thats bliss and arrogance! so post something plz!

PS: Your probably gonna ask for Specs to so here:
CPU: Mobile AMD Athlon or Athlon MP (XP 1800+ runnin 2k)
CPUClock: 1.529 GHz
SystemMemory: 511.5 MB

VGA NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 with AGP8X
DriverVersion 0.0.0.0
VideoMemory 127.4 MB

What games are you trying to use? Selfbootable ones or not?

What happens when you try to load them? Crash/Error or CD player screen?

Finally have you tried using one of the Utopia bootdisks to see if that is any help at all?

Well..When i try to use a CD it has none of it..Like i tried Ikaruga, MVC2, and some others..still none of it..

Then when i mount an image onto either Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120%..it loads past the bios screen (The ball swirls) but it goes to the CD screen.

Im guessing it is a popular failure then..?

Seems to happen a lot with Win2k - but it seems that most people can get it to work fine, so there must be something more to it.

Worth trying with one of the Utopia bootdisks to see if the games boot when using that (just mount it, let it load, unmount and then mount your .iso/.cdi file).

The disk swap never used to work (with any OS) in previous versions, but is working now - at least it is in XP :) not sure about 2K, would assume it would be the same.

It may sound stupid but I have to ask you... Are you using the ASPI CD-ROM interface of the emulator? The xxx CD-ROM interface doesn't work under Win2k.

Is that the reason why i couldn't load the games from the drive i have (CD/DVD combo..) so what plugin shud i use?

Cuz when i do use the aspi plugin..it comes up with TOC read error..first time that come up i read here to use the xxx interface..it worked to the bios so thats the one i use..

Why some people do not read the <a href="http://www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?t=20636" target="_blank"><u>FAQ</u></a>? This is a common problem.
The answer (and the question):

<b>Q:</b> I can't make Chankast work under Windows 2K, why?
<b>A:</b> Make sure that you have the latest ASPI drivers installed and selected the ASPI CD-ROM interface from the plugin configuration.
<font color=red><b>IMPORTANT NOTES:</font></b> You may have to install ASPI drivers v4.71 from <a href="http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.jsp?language=English+US&filekey=aspi_471a2.exe&sess=no" target="_blank"><u>HERE</u></a> and after that install v4.60 from <a href="http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.jsp?sess=no&language=English+US&cat=%2FOperating+System%2FMicrosoft+Windows+95&filekey=aspi32.exe" target="_blank"><u>HERE</u></a> in order to make it work.<br />
You must not have custom IDE drivers installed when installing the ASPI drivers (use the IDE drivers that come with windows). If you have, the emulator will crash. To unistall any custom IDE drivers do the following:<br />
Go into the windows device manager and then to the ATA/ATAPI controllers section. Then select the IDE controller and then the drivers tab and click update drivers. Then select choose driver from list and then check show all hardware. Finally install the 'Standard Dual channel PCI IDE controller' and reboot. After that, install the ASPI drivers.

Why some people do not read the FAQ This is a common problem.

If this was a common problem then it would have been fixed by now..cuz the answer would have been there when i first checked that on saturday night...that isnt the prblem...i dont mainly run the games form disc..it even says in that very faq that it is recommended that i use a selfbootable image..
listen.. i tried with the disc last, what i did mainly (and with the very first attempt of Soul Calibur) was rip the game using EXOSkelotor's selfboot GUI, wait for that to finish, take the cdi image and mount on 3.46 (tried 3.29 & Alcohol 120% its not that)
when i open chankast everyhting is ok, even my rumble works through the PS2 controller and DC pad..afetr i tweak chankast to the settings what most ppl have posted, i goto start and try runnin the game on the virtual drive..it loads to the Dreamcast screen then it goes to the audio trackz on the disc (which it says 2 at 80 min o_0)
anywayz.. when i goto the pad and try it just says that i need to insert disc..=/ so as i said before it isn't that.. (it does with the drive aswell which i know it works with it)

EDIT: Sry about the double post XD

If what the FAQ has suggested hasn't worked (and if you do it correctly, it really really should - providing the images are correct) then I'd have to suggest giving up on Chankast for now.

Remember newest Aspi first, then 4.60, don't do it the other way around.

Well it is a common problem and it should have been fixed by now. Only the ASPI CD-ROM interface can be used under Win2k, if you use the xxx CD-ROM interface the emulator will recognize the CDs as audio CDs. The "can't read TOC from x:drive" message shows that the ASPI drivers are not installed correctly or even not at all. Be sure to reboot after installing ASPI drivers v4.71 and reboot again after installing ASPI drivers v4.60.

sounds to me like he thinks the aspi drivers is the plugin or a virtual cd rom or smth

ive never heard of a case where this has come up and not be fixed by installing the drivers.

I already told you that under Win2k if you use the xxx CD-ROM interface the emulator will recognize the CDs as audio CDs. Make sure that you do not have any custom IDE drivers installed (install the ones that come with windows) and that you're not running any programs that mess up with the CD-ROM drive except from the program of the virtual drive (I already see that you're running CloneCD tray). And use the ASPI CD-ROM interface.

PS: I just saw that you have the ASPI files inside the Chankast directory (it means that they are not installed correctly; you must delete them from there or anywhere else you made copies of them). The "ASPI installation check utility" is not accurate. Be sure to install ASPI v4.71 (unzip the files, run "aspiinst.exe" click install and then reboot) and then ASPI v4.60 (just run "aspi32.exe" click install and reboot).
