The Worst Games Ever Made

Super Nintendo Wizard
I was looking through my friends old n64 collection and stumbled upon a game that I used to have nightmares about... I rented it once back in the day, SuperMan 64 (*quiver*)... the crappiest game ever created.
I was wondering if there was any other games that would have been better used as... um, like, i dunno, a baseball?

Update:
Wow, "Revolution X" for the SNES I just d/l it... OMFG lol, this game is horrible, it's got AeroSmith telling you to go out and kill these like putty ninjas??

Although many will disagree,

Final Fantasy XI is the worst game I have played this year, let me summerize the main points I have against it

1) PlayOnline, its unique system of slowness and complete rubbishness will forever plague mankind, it took me 5 hours to install and update the game, as well as the fact it is mandatory to have a credit card [except for this epassport thing]. seriously how many teens have a credit card. [target audience]

2) It puts you on a random server after you create a character, so if you wanted to play with a friend it is near impossible... well not easily, you need something called a world pass.

3) There appears to be no character customization or very little of it, you cannot change your stats once you level up, if you like everyone having the exact same build of fighter, sure thats fine but not for me.

4) The interface and controls are utterly terrible, it is exceedingly difficult to target monsters for instance, the controls are dodgy at least... forcing you to use specific keys on your keyboard... like the number pad... why? I prefer W A S and D.

5) No in-game tutorial, you basicly start having no idea what to do. Unlike everquest 2.

6) The monsters seemed like copies of each other, like for instance you get forrest rabbit and forrest hare i think, they look EXACTLY the same, same is true of other monsters.

7) In the first little area I found monsters, there were incredibly strong monsters which I could not fight and they were agressive, I almost always died very quickly, very very poor monster positioning especially for new players.

8) The battle system is very very boring, and nothing like the other FF games, its not turn based and the menus are difficult to manuver.. you could spend so much time in them you have died by the time you pick your choice.

9) Leveling is waaaaay too slow, and I heard that you must be in a party after you get to a certain level, personally I prefer to solo things so after all that I listed I just dropped this like a turd.

This game is imo the worst online game I have ever played... Its a wonder how it does so well in reviews.

funny another emu site that i am a member of had the same question not long ago.
I will stick with my same answer.
E.T. for the 2600. if you had ever played that game you would agree. It was pointless , rushed out, and the only good thing about it was the opening music (the same as from the movie.) if you have never played it then get yourself an atari 2600 emu and play it then come back and change your answer.

I don't think ET is quite the worst game of all time. I can safely state that Sqij for the ZX Spectrum would beat it all hands down by virtue of:

The game being uncontrollable due to it forcing Caps Lock on when starting, yet wanting all key inputs lowercase. Luckily you could just break into the program and change it.

Points went up for doing nothing

Graphics were hideous, barely coloured and still flickered like mad

Compared to that game ET was genius :)

Worst game? FFX-2. Why? Hmm. That's a mystery.

Here are the reasons why:
1- The music. Uematsu didn't do the music in this game, and here's a little formula: Final Fantasy - Nobuo Uematsu = crap.

2- The attire of the characters: These girls are what a German person would call "schmutzig". I'd call them immodest. (There are a whole crapload of games that have these kinds of "women").

3- How would FFX-2's plot play into Final Fantasy X's ending? It just plain confused me with Tidus.

4- NOT REALLY A FINAL FANTASY. Some of us want more RPG-ish games.

ScottJC, dude, 'the worst game of all time' is what I'm asking... not even the worst FF could ever be the worst game ever. I mean, if you came from traditional console RPG's (like I did) then FF XI could be a shock, but its pretty standard as far as a PC MMORPG's go (from what I've seen). The superb art direction, and simple loveablitily of the series should be enough to push it over the 'alright game' catagory.
As far as X-2 goes, well, I've only played X. I really didn't like X, I HATED blitzball... I didn't like those long ass orb puzzles... but its still a thing of beauty as far as asthetics go, I mean, it's practically a movie. FF games will probably always be successfull and be loved, its like the epitemy of oldschool.
I think the main problem with all of these newer FF's is the non-RPG'ish gameplay they have developed. I mean like, it was a real let down for people who where expecting something like FF VII. Still, it could never be 'the worst game ever.
Like, I'm talking, not like bad games, but like horibble games. Games you would actually take pleasure in throwing to the flames.

Aww, new addition to worst games:

'PacMan 2 - The New Adventures' for the SNES, wow, never have I've seen a complete molestation of a classic.

That game was actually quite fun. You aren't judging it because it's not like the original, are you? What about Aquaman? I haven't played it, but it was voted scariest game on X-Play because of how horrendous it was :p.

I am not bashing it because of the originals, had you bothered to read my little list you'd have noticed i've compiled a good few reasons to hate it.

Compared to MMORPG's like Ragnarok onlone FFXI has absolutely nothing to merit playing it, hell even ragnarok lets you customize your stats, what does FFXI do? apart from fancy graphics it is pure shit.

I did say people wouldn't agree, blinded by their FF fanboy status.
"OMG FF HOW CAN YOU HATE IT" ;)

lol, good ol' E.T. Number 21 on Gamespy's "Dumbest Moments" list. Even as a stupid, easily-impressed kid I knew it sucked.

The new E.T. may be this game. I've not had the (dis)pleasure of playing it, but the review is a riot.

The decent one
U know that ET has been created in 3 weeks after the failed pacman release when atari created more copies than consoles, and had to "bury" the whole mess in the desert ;)

Knights of the Old Republic (PC) used to be the worst game, not because it had a bad story, graphics or playability, actually the best RPG I have ever played myself. Simply the fact if you looked at it wrong it would crash and Lucasarts never even tried to really fix this for anyone.

Now note I said used to be the worst, the worst all time now is Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords (PC). Foolish me thought all those issues would have been worked out this time? NOPE!!!! In fact I've heard if you can get this game working from day one it really is an incredible experience. I have 3 systems that are fairly different hardware wise and yet this game still crashes, but now it even loses save games at will?!?!?!?!

Heck there are tons of complaints in Lucasarts forums, yet no one seems to want to respond to the issues. Pretty lame. :( That'll teach me to think that Lucasarts still can actually put thier name on quality products. This baby is going back to the store until a decent patch comes out to fix the crashing and save game stuff at the very least.

Okay, forget I said FFX-2. The PC and PS2 port of Grandia II, two words. Crappy port. Why? Oh-hoh, well let's get things started. First off, the sound; it was horribly done. They use 22KHz wav files for the music and the voices! Second, the framerate; it fluctuated between what seemed 15 to 60 fps. Not only that, but when ever you casted a powerful magic spell, the animations were on temporary hold and would shake on-screen for about thirty seconds. They should've fixed the "shadows" too. And I've had people tell me that the game freezes and kicks you out when you try to fight the last boss. Crap. Absolute crap!

Yeah, Grandia 2 was a shameful port (PS2). Sometimes an entire section of textures would simply vanish, leaving an empty white space. Would happen with characters as well, leaving a roughly humanoid mass of white polygons. And crashing did occur. Happened to me once during the fight with Millenia near the end of the game.

Despite all that it was still an enjoyable game. I only wish I had played the DC version.

The PS2 port had severe slowdown problems in many areas, towns especially. 15fps is a generous estimate. I think it was more like 5-10.
