The Best Gamepad

Hi Guys!

:pj64: roxx, this first.

But the Problem is, controlling is so hard by most of the Games, especially if you have a Keyboard only.

So I wanted to ask, which Gamepad would be the best for a N64 Emulator or which is the most similiar to an N 64 Controller?

(Sorry 4 my English "Knowledge" ^^')

yup the adaptoid, your N64 pad on your PC, although you can also have your Gamecube, X-Box or Psx/PS2 pad on your PC now as well.

I always have to disagree with this answer. Yes, for N64 emulation, the Adaptoid is best, but the problem is most people who emulate (though not all) also play PC games, and Ive had problems with my adaptoid in PC games. If you want a good pad that will work for everything, Get a PSX gamepad clone like the Thrustmaster Dual Power, or Gravis Eliminator Aftershock, or Microsoft Sidewinder. Ive had problems with the Aftershock so I wouldnt go with that one. I absolutely love my Thrustmaster Dual Power.

Eagle I'm disagree with you. I own an Adaptoid and i don't have any problems with regular PC games. The Adaptoid is very cool! Which with games are you having problems Eagle?

Well, I havent used the Adaptoid in a while. I think there were conflicts with Episode I Racer, Spider-man (the original not the movie) and a few others. It is a genuine adaptiod too.

Oh the gamepad itself worked, but the rumble never worked thats why I switched. Now I remember.

No problems with games, I can't say anything about the rumble pak because I haven't tested yet

N64 pad on LPT also works perfect . And it's easy to build - you only need 5 diodes, DB-25 connector (if you don't plan to use pad with real N64 you can cut
off N64 connector and connect wires directly to DB25)

Unlike adaptoid it works with any OS (for example DOS+ MAME + N64 pad)

Anyway best controller for N64 emulator is real N64 pad.

i have to say, for computer gaming, i've tried about 10 diff gamepads, and the logitech wingman rumblepad kicks serious ass. and i use it for emulation too. i like it better than the n64 controller. the rumble is better, the sticks are nicer, there's two of them, the y,z,b, and c buttons work great as c buttons, x and a are the perfect a and b substitute, and start is a no brainer, the only thing missing is the left trigger, which i RARELY use in most games, since i have my left trigger as the z trigger.

also, the throttle is brilliant for some applcations.

i can't tell you how sweet nfs6 is with this baby. :D

edit: damn it's the same one alpha linked to, i can't believe how many random times i accidentally have agreed with him, lol but yeah, it's a great pad, $10 seems unrealistic for civilians, though.... :) i'd aim for <$30 somewhere.

i use a Eliminator Gamepad pro it works great for N64 but also good for any other game that needs a gamepad and i mean ANY game (unless the game your playing needs rumble support or somthign wierd like that.....)

Personally I use the EMS PSX to PC (USB) converter. The rumble works, the dual anolog works great and i found the annolog sticks to be more sensetive then the N64/adaptoid combo

None of them really need rumble support but its awesome to have it.

I got a MS Sidewinder Freestyle. Its the motion sensor one but the motion sensing business is really a gimmik cause you barely ever use it. Come to think of it, i hardly use the gamepad at all, keyboard/mouse is usually the best. :p

For 64 emulation only, i'd have to suggest an ataptoid only cause i've heard great reviews/responses from users of it :)

YES!!! THE WINGMAN!!!! right now i have a cheep axis pad but i'm about to can that for the wingman. i was about to make a post asking if it was anygood with games because while i have never actcually used it in a game i like the feel of the buttons and the sticks are superior to EVERYTHING i have ever touched on a game pad for PC before. plus they are thin so you have more range of motion. so YES i'm about to cop that joint (the ghetto in me is coming out) on Friday.

I have that exact same configuration. It works great. But my buttons are sticking on my wingman, so I have to get a new one. The wingman lasted me about 1 1/2 to 2 years. Im probably going to try another pad though because I want a 10-button controller possibly with rumble, and with 2 analogs. Does anyone know of any controllers that do so?
