The best emulator?

If you have got a slow pc, use corn. If you've got a pc with 350 mhz or more, use ultrahle or 1964. And with 700 mhz or more, use project64.

Thanks for reply.

I have a fast PC so I'll check project64 out. What improved fetures has it got over the other emulators?

Thanks

Project64 has the best compatibility with the games.

1964 has a great compatibility too, but the sound is sometimes skipping and the loading-times between the levels are sometimes extremely long.

UltraHLE is fast but the problem is the compatibility.

Corn does support only about 200 games (very much doesn't run fully), and much supported games hasn't got sound on corn. But corn is an extremely fast emulator, and some games are running on a p 200 at full speed! I've seen corn running super-mario 64 on a PII 350 mhz at screen-resolution 1280x960 with sound at full speed.

Project64 is the best one of all the emulators but some times slow. A high end is strongly recommended! At least a 600 mhz with 128 mb ram and 16 mb video (to run small games like mario64, mario kart and bomberman at 640x480). For more heavy games like zelda, super smash bros and perfect dark 800 mhz or more is strongly recommended!!!

mightyrocket, check the manual next time. At least a 32mb video card is required. 64 mb video card is recommended.

Maybe you are right. The 16 mb video hardware doesn't support all the advanced blending modes (included in jabo's d3d6 1.5), but I said "you need this to run small games", not the very heavy games.

By the way, I have found this in the manual:

How much memory it has has nothing to do with what blending modes it supports. A TNT2 16MB supports everything jabo uses in v1.4 of his plugin. 32MB is a good idea, just to have extra space.

200 games? Ha! That's a good one! A total of 52 games are supported across all versions and version 0.3- only supports 37 of those. Also, only a few games require that sound be off.

But you can still not expect 16 mb to perform well. That means the gfx cache needs to be cleaned very often. Not good.

I said "very much doesn't run fully". That means something like intro only, sound plays but no screen, game crashes at level ..., and a few other things like this.

Thanks for replys.

Project64 is working great. :n64:

However, so far all I've downloaded is the acttual programme. What does all the plugins and other dowloads do? Are they worth downloading?

Thanks

Well if its running all the games you want it to, you don't need anything else:)

Diffrent plugins may give diffrent results in diffrent games. You may need to switch if you notice a game isn't working good.
Otherwise there's no real need to switch.
