Stumped

I've been trying to get 1964 working on my machine but have had no luck at all. I've used the recommended plugin configs and nothing happens. The roms show up in the list, they'll load but then the machine does nothing. Sometimes it'll freeze. (yes I even unchecked "status bar cpu usage status" in options) I even use the 0.73 patch.
PJ64 runs fine on my rig but a few games are supposed to run better on 1964 so I thought I'd give it a try.

Any Clues :hrm:

Just for ref, I'm using a PIII 800, 256 ram, a Matrox G400 32mg vid card, and a Sound Blaster Platinum sound card. also DX 8.1

Can anyone recommend a specific plugin config for me :)

Thanks in advance.

Is it possible that having both PJ64 & 1964 causes plugin overlap somehow?

having both pj64 and 1964 is certainly not the case, i even try to get them to share as much files as possible.

for ur plugins, i recommend:

Jabo 1.4 gfx
Azimer beta sound (comes with 1964)
Nrage input 0.80 (not necessary)

the important thing here is not to use Jabo's sound plugin (which is what i think ur doing), 1964 doesnt work with it.

DO NOT share files with pj64. make sure the emus are in different folders. and COPY/PASTE jabos plugins and nrages...just dont share it - less likely to be a problem that way.

make sure that u download 0.7.2 FIRST, and then use the 0.7.3 patch.

also reset all the registrys (a file in the uninstall folder enables u to do this).

try and use the latest official .ini .
and in the game options make sure the game is using 'protected memory', unless it needs another type....but always test your roms in protect memory first, then try other self-mod modes.

also make sure when u test ur roms that 32-bit core is only enabled on roms that are compatible...i hav made a list of this in my compat. list, but as i dont own a full set of roms, u may not know wat games do/do not work with the 32-bit core, so try and leave this set to 'no', until u can get games working, then maybe hav a go at using it, as it can really speed up ur games.

i would use either nrages latest plugin or jabos directinput 1.4 for ur input plugin.

and for sound ONLY use the two bundled sound plugins:
1) Azimar's 0.30 (old driver) - worst quality, most compatible
2)Azimar's 0.4beta - much better sound quality & mp3 support, less compatible

-----------------

i find 1964 to be much easier to make faster and smoother on slower systems, plus it is more compatible with some games (and pj64 is more compatible with others). now that pj64 is finished (although it will probably be highly optimised with smiffs hard-worked and very professional .rdb - when thats finished), 1964, Apollo and Tr64 are the future of n64 emulation.

mhhh I'm just curious why not? I once had pj and 19 in the same folder and everything worked fine I don't know both have completely different filenames for everything and different reg keys... so why not have them in the same folder?

well basically there is no reason why it shouldnt work. its just that one person was sharing folders, and when they were told to separate them, it solved the problem.

if u know what ur doing having emus share folders can be beneficial. for example sharing a mempack folder will let u load ur save in both emus. sharing rom folder is obvious. and sharing plugin folder also has its perks(be aware of its...side effects). everything else, i didnt dare to touch yet, but i believe a few more files can be shared

that can be done anyway using nrages plugin which uses the same mempak, no need to share files there.

if u tell nrage's plugin to use the same mempak file, ur sharing files!

not exactly. yes it shares memory pak. but u dont need the plugin in the same folder, u can hav one copy in the pj64 plugin dir and one in the 1964 plugin dir. it will still use the same mem pak.

so its sharing, but in the same way that using a separate copies of jabos plugin for each emu.

mempaks are files (*.mpk), sk8bloke.
