I've been messing with dc emulation for around 2 weeks. I read numerous threads about self booting and how games run in chankast and removing the intros. But I haven't got far, because no games have ran so far. Closest thing I've gotten is audio disc display.
I've first thought maybe I could mount the utopia boot disk and then unmount it and mount the game image, same way you play backups on the actual dreamcast but just stayed at the boot disk screen. Then I tried the fast boot thing but binhack.exe kept closing after i input the bin names. After that I messed with ExoBoot and it said it was a success. I used Soul Calibur usa version. After exoboot made the image, daemon tools mounted it but couldn't view the contents. If I tried to run in chankast I just got IO control error.
So I then saw a guide that said to use ultra iso and extract it to .nrg format. Then use alcohol 120% and change it to clone cd. I did that and this time no IO error but it only showed it as an audio cd. So I'm stumped. I also tried chankex or w/e but no luck. Any ideas? This has been more frustrating than working with sega saturn emulators
EDIT: I realized I forgot to uncheck read only for my files.. which was giving me.. cannot open 1st_read.bin etc. might work now
