Squashed GFX in Perfect Dark

Hiya!

I'm using Jabo's d3d6 on PJ64. When I load my PD ROM (ntsc or PAL) the game loads and works fine until I choose my mission then all the graphics get squashed up into the top half of the screen!! Can someone help me!!

Sounds like you may have turned hi res mode on. Turn it off in the game's option menu.

Yep, you were right - I had put on Hi-Res now that works fine. But do you know why the camera (ie/ your viewpoint) is all jeky in full screen but not when it's windowed? I vaguely remember reading something about this for another game but I just can't find the thread! :blush:

I haven't heard of that problem before. If your system is good enough to run the game, it shouldn't be jerky. Someone else may be able to help you with that - they might want to know your pc specs first as perfect dark is one of the more 'demanding' ROMS, i believe.

I don't think it's anything to do with my specs (God, I wish I could find that thread!) but I've added them to my Signature anyway cos I'm always asking these silly questions!! Who knows? Maybe one day I'll be able to answer a question or two myself!! Now I'll just go and post another thread!

For some reason, only the PAL version runs correctly in HI-RES mode. But, unless you want slower gameplay, you shouldn't download it!

(OFFTOPIC) I'm sorry everyone for how I always BASH PAL. I didn't know that there's a PAL 60hz too. NOW, I think that PAL is better overall, just not in 50hz.

There are no PAL 60 games for N64 (only Zelda MQ) but most newer games are PAL 60. So PAL games should be better than NTSC games (in theory).

yeah, NOW PAL games are better. IMO, they used to LOOK better, but had a slow-spaced speed. Now NTSC has absolutely NO advantage over PAL. Crap.....

Note that the PAL has slightly lower system requirements than NTSC which can be an issue for some systems - at least thats what I found on my 1800+ in particular, since it has a lower frame rate.
