Soul calibur ntsc

Hello everyone,

Just a quick thank you for enabling me to enjoy what i considered the most underated console of modern times.

Now, i've checked pysman's faq for help but can't quite pin this down.

I have a cdi image of s/c ntsc that will not play on .25 chankast. I use deamon 3.29, have tried alcohol 120% but it still loads up the play/vmu/music etc screen.

I downloaded the fixes/hacks but they don't seem to work either and yet i can play many other games without trouble??

Any pointers would be great.

Thanks,

Tostie:happy:

Good day:bouncy:

Thank you for your replies.

I think you are probably correct that it is a bad image, but i will try to convert it to a self boot. Could you provide me with a link on how to do it please as i am a newbie when it comes to converting image files that way.

When it is done i'll let you know whether it worked or not.

Cheers:cheers:

Update: There seems to be a problem? I extract the images files etc to the data folder, but when i click on binhack.exe an error appears stating the the parameters are incorrect??

What am i doing wrong???

update2: Ok, i moved the fastboot file onto desktop and it seemed to work, but when i try to mount the image file onto deamon, it says "unable to mount image, unable to access image file" and when i check the file with iso buster two files have a red cross by them;

stage.dat
vcsel.dat

what do i do next??

uodate3: tried again and this time it mounted, BUT!!!!!! it now starts with dc logo, then sega and finally a blank screen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm almost there!!!!!!help!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

you don't need to use the binhack.exe that is for a game different type just to the stuff in the data folder and them double click on B2B_game ad then you will get a .CDI file and your done

thanks!! i'll give it a try.

Update4: ok, i want to be sure about what you say because i just tried again and had the same results.

I moved all files into data, then placed 1st read file into fastboot folder, moved the 1st read and the other file into data and pressed b2b_game.bat which then made an image file that mounted onto deamon. Ran chankast and got the same result.

Am i doing it correctly?

Sorry for being a pain:flowers:

You could try ChankastEx, since it has a modified CD-ROM Interface plugin that might read the mounted image better.

you do not need to modify IP.bin file or read first files in the data folder just get the data in the data folder and run B2B_game and your set

thank you my friend, i'll give it a go!!:bouncy:

Update(lost count!!): It now goes to the dreamcast set up screen. I've tried all settings and all versions of chankast/ex. This is a shot in the dark but when i checked the image file in fastboot with alcohol 120%, it said it was a diskjuggler image. What does that mean??

Also, i activate all deamon emulation settings and my other games work. Should i strictly do this for every game because it's not mentioned in the compat.list

And finally, i have read something about blue dreamcast logo and red logo. i have the red logo on start-up. Can somebody shed any light on that??

Thank you for your help with these matters,

toastie!!

no, i just restart with different settings to test, so i don't think it is corrupt bios file.

It'll read it exactly the same. It just wont tell you that it screws up! IO errors and all that. ;)
Although to the best of my knowledge Soul Calibur doesnt generate IO errors.

Toastie:
Try replacing the dc_flash and dc_bios files.
Chankast sometimes corrupts the dc flash image forcing you to constantly set the system time and even then will not boot into a game.

Its an issue in the original chankast, A LOT of people have reported this bug and we're trying to kill it even as we speak! (In ChankastEx that is)

Also using anything other than D-Tools is just asking for compatabily problems.

Hope this helped...:flowers:

I suppose it can depend on the image... I've never had problems, so the best I can do is just give general advice, even if it doesn't always help. :/

Replacing the BIOS also rarely helps. The only solution that has had good chances of working is using DT v3.29, but even so, some people have said that the program crashes their entire system (SPDT driver error, no doubt).

Go figure.

Thanks trickster amd agozer, i'll try it one more time then go searching for another iso.

Thanks for all your help with this matter and hopefully the next version of chankast will resolve the problem.

IO Error = bad image file (most likely hacked with the ecc fields being left unrepaired). Try using CDMage and see if it can repair it.

Well, after trying to fix what turned out to be a corrupted file, cdmage could only fix a few files. I have deleated it and will search for a new iso.

Thank you everyone for all your help,
