Sony Dual Shock 2 with Radioshack PSX-to-USB Adapter

Hello all. I'm trying to get the rumble feature to work with my Sony Dual Shock 2 controller with the Radioshack PSX-to-USB adapter in Project64. I've read many posts on people trying to get their controllers with FF to work and couldn't find a solution to my own predicament...

So I setup the controller properly with the drivers supplied with the adapter and went to Game Controllers to make sure the force feedback is working properly. It is :p. I am using DirectX 9.0c and N-Rage's Direct-Input8 V2 1.82a. Everything works fine except I can't get the emulator to recognize that there's a rumble pak, or at least I think that's the case... because at the fishing game in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time the guy says I don't have a rumble pak connected. Under the Devices tab in the N-Rage config I of course have selected my USB Dual Vibration Joystick as the device and under Rumble (I've tried them all... sigh) I have just the Constant Force radio button selected at the moment. I saw a post somewhere saying to uninstall N-Rage's config by removing it from the registry... so I tried that to no avail. I thought it might help because I was using the emulator before with another controller and then I received the Dual Shock 2 and adapter in the mail not too long ago and configured Project64 for that. I dunno... I'm fresh out of options and could use some suggestions. ;)

Many thanks.

Just a quick update... I browsed some more and noticed that other people had problems getting their force feedback to work with Project64 when they had DirectX 9.0c installed (and SP2, although I'm not sure if that's related).
sigh

Can you check if it works outside of PJ64? I also have a PS2 DualShock Controller but I use an EMS USB2 adapter for the adapter. I can test the rumble feature by going to Game Controller, select the controller and it has an option to test it. Do you have a similar option? Try to check if it works under Windows first before you tried it on the emulator.

Yeah, when I said I tested it to make sure the force feedback works properly that's what I meant. I went to the option under Game Controllers to check the rumble and it works. :)

I had this problem, but fixed it by simply checking raw data which is to the left of putting on the rumble pack under the devices tab. I have the same controller and yeah it rocks :) Some games may not support rumble. I know Smash Bros. does...if you have that game test it out to see if the rumble does work.

You mean Raw Data next to the drop down box under the Controller Pak tab? Yeah, if that's unchecked then it blatantly says, "You won't get ForceFeedBack, the Emulator may use other ways( Visual ) or wont do anything at all." I've had that checked though. :( And still no rumble with Super Smash Bros. or any other games with Project64. I've also tried unselecting Raw Data and using Visual Rumble with no luck though.
I dunno... apparantly people get this problem solved as if it's a miracle. No one seems to know why it starts working, but they mess with the settings and it'll just start rumbling... even though their settings were the same or settings that they've tried before. I still think it might be a DirectX 9.0c problem...

Oh wait a minute did your ps2 adapter come with a floppy?!? If not then you dont have the driver installed. Feel free to PM me since i have the driver on my laptop. Also keep raw data checked :p

Yeah, in the first post I said I setup the controller properly with the drivers supplied with the adapter... and tested the force feedback and it does work. ;P
I dunno... I guess it just wants to work for some people and not others. Are you using N-Rage's V2 1.82a? I tried V2 1.82 too... and the N64 Virtual Pad... bleh. Are you using DirectX 9.0c btw? I've read about people having complications where after they installed that the rumbling stopped working. bleh... oh well!

*** IMPORTANT UPDATE ***
I got the rumbling feature in Project64 to work but I know what to do. :p
So if you mess around with the Rumble features (Constant Force, Ramp Force, Visual Rumble, etc.) under the Devices tab in N-Rage's Input Plugin V2, or maybe mess around with anything for that matter... and you save. Go back into the Configure Controller Plugin, go straight to the Controller Pak tab, select Rumble Pak, and uncheck and recheck RawData, then save. This works for me every time I fool around with the options and the rumbling stops. So if it's not your driver, or hardware, or any of that nonsense... try that.
