What's new

some video gamers are idiots

Meh...
some of them base their opinions on the console itself and what it looks like (e.g x-box, too big, to heavy), and others just say "its because of the rating" or some others say "because the graphics suck". what i have to say is... DOES IT REALLY FUCKING MATTER ON THAT PART?! it should matter on the game, and gameplay itself, i mean come on im sure some of you still play your snes or sega genesis once in a while because of the gameplay or how fun the game is, i know i do. i still play sonic 3 for sega or super mario for the snes. I like the new games too. im basically mostly pointing this out to the X-Box haters, cause i thought the X-Box was shit too until i actually TRIED IT OUT! and it was one of the best things ive seen. its fast, it has some good games. now i know most people buy the PS2 instead of the gamecube because of the ratings on the games. anyways i just wanna make a point. dont diss any console or company till you actually tried their stuff out, and if you have and still think it sucks, well im glad you actually tried it.

Yep I think that one has to make a choice from the games rather from the console itself.

I buyed a GameCube myself, but after playing Rogue Squadron and Eternal Darkness (well and two or three more), I can't see any more games that are worth trying. I think Nintendo has got some problems defining who the games are beeing designed for. The other two consoles seem to have won in variety. So when deciding on a console, the type of games you want to play should be more important than see what console looks cooler.

Another prob i see is where you live (sudamerica especially). At least where I am none of the three consoles is somewhat known (I ask my friends if they have seen the last games for xbox and they say: 'xx... what?'). The old PS (not PSOne) is somehow the most popular. And games and consoles of last generation are waaay to expensive compared to what they cost in usa. At least i think i'm gonna stick with the good old zelda OoT for a while...

Well if a game is 3D and all the clipping is wrong or the txtures look horrid then the games gonna suck :p

Personally if I'm playing a game as long as the games downsides (graphics, sound, hardware) don't take away from the game content then its a good game :)

my 2 cents

HEY i never said to get technical :p

j/k. anyways yeah if it has that big of problem than it would be horrid (especially if lighting is innaccurate and clipping is wrong or the textures dont have that much detail). but games like perfect dark and zelda oot are still one of the great games of even TODAY. cause of the graphics that was ahead of its time. one thing the n64 lacked in was polygonal smoothing, it looked to hexagonaly type of thingy (err... o_O), lol. but yeah you get it. Super Mario 64 is still a fun game to play, some parts better than sunshine imo.... i think nintendo is worrying to much about graphics rather than gameplay right now... they should balance it out. Nintendo also should put more fun and challenging games out.

Oops, I meant Eternal Darkness. Anyway, Perfect Dark was a good game also. Uhm, thinking about that, what happened to rareware games for the cube? I remeber seeing on the cube box some rareware games rather than starfox.

oh something else

This may not be as important, but may be considered when choosing from one or other console.

I think guarantee and technical service it's important considereing the cost of the consoles.

For example, after a year and a few months of buyed, my gc started to fail. It readed no discs. And even if guarantee was expired, the tech service agreed to repair it for free. But after some trouble i got yesterday a new console. guaranteed for three more years!

I own a GC and a PS2 and I do not like the X-box. I never liked the size but to be fair to myself I did try it out. And what I did find was that the graphics were amazing yet I soon found myself with funger cramp due to the massive controller. I know there is a new controller out but I just feel there is no really exclusive games to the x-box that don't appear on another console. Splinter Cell was supposedly exclusive at one stage. Therefore I feel there is no need to own an x-box.

Nintendo sold Rare to Microsoft.

I totally agree with you, grokuss4. What matters is the quality of the games. That's why I've chosen GC. BUt GC's big problem is that it does not have enough cool titles issued.

I still remember that I was playing Perfect Dark very choppy on a 8 mb Ati Rage Pro. No aimer, no radar, unrendered textures in some places and some other small things. It was playable and I loved it, but I can understand why people hate a game if they see it like this :p .

I have 3DO - it's old but some game are great - Captain Quazar, Gex, Star Control II, Starfighter, Space Hulk (this game is difficult as hell but i really like it) Wing Commander III ( i have PC version too, but there's some cutscenes missing). And Super Street Fighter II Turbo - best port ever, even better than arcade version (i have real CPS-2 w/ SSF2T,SFA2 and MvC boards)

One guy knew only one game - Counter Strike, untill i gave him zsnes,a few roms
and NeoGeo Pocket w/ SNK vs Capcom cart. He forgot CS and now stuck with CBFD, Metroid, RPGs and fighting games
:satisfied:

a good game should be:
graphic 10%,sound 10%,gameplay 40%,playability 40%.
it's Nintendo's idea.
