Snes9x 2xsai mode

I just downloaded the latest WIP of Snes9x (its the first time using it) and I noticed that the image quality isn't nearly as good as zsnes when it comes to the filtering of 2xsai. Is there a way to get it to look like zsnes filtering? thanks-minkster

Nope, hardware bilinear filtering is not working in Snes9x when using Win2000/XP, thus 2xSAI looks really bad compared to ZSNES, AND it gets a border at the bottom to boot. :(

Use Snes9x's OpenGL mode since it looks better than the other modes.

I personaly dislike Snes9x, its a nice emulator, but compared to ZSnes it is nothing imo. Its filters are pretty badly working, usually it halfs the framerate, and theres that damn border at the bottom, the lack of hq2x etc doesn't impress me either :)

The only reason why I'm using Snes9x is to play games that dont work right in Zsnes. For instance I've been playing this Itchy and Scratchy game and it flickers all the time in Zsnes, but doesn't do that in Snes9x. If there is a way to get itchy and scratchy working in Zsnes I would delete Snes9x in a second :p

I can't stand Zsnes, purely because of the interface. It looks awful.

It's like sticking a modern diesel engine inside a Datsun Sunny!

If you want it fixed, you must report the bug in this thread. Follow the instructions in Post #1. Then it'll be investigated.

Okay... the GUI in ZSNES isn't the best, but you can find all the things and it's the best SNES emu if you want to get great gfx!

I found the bug myself, so I reported it for him. :) Minkster, I gave credit to you, of course. :)

For now, go to the options menu and disable the new graphics engine. It should work fine now. :)

Featurewise, snes9x is the best due to the partitial sdd-1 (i think?) emulation. But otherwise it's mostly preference. All emulators have its cons and pros.
Personally I like snes9x, and I tend to use kreed's supereagle.

Ha... like it to see my games in hq4x... :p
Okay, kreed's is good, but hq?x ones are ass kicking!

I agree, that's why I dislike ZSNES too. That, and the fact that it's DOS based. ( Is it? It seems that way to me. ._. )

As for graphics, I don't see why ZSNES gives better. SNES9x gives pixelated versions, and also versions like TV mode. Myself, I don't like to use any kind of graphics filtering, just the way it would appear on SNES9x anyway. Looks sharper, smoother.

IMO ZSNES from day one has always looked better, and sounded better. You can barely compare IQ between emulators. :p

The GUI is Snes9x is clumsy, non-standard and uncustomisable.

Here are some comparison shots, both emulators "maxed out" at best quality (Snes9x, Bi-linear mode 7, transparency with Super Eagle, ZSNES, hq3x). Snes9x looks grainy while ZSNES is smooth. Even ZSNES's Super Eagle is much cleaner due to hardware filtering, but is redundant due to hq filters really.

I'm assuming the SNES9x image is the top one, eh Clements? I don't really look for that kind of thing in a emulator, but the only difference I see is the Shyguys masks. I never noticed anything else.. I'm not very observant. ._.

I don't use those filters anyway, I use either TV mode (SNES9x) or just Normal, with the pixels. Nither bothers me. That's just me, though.

Edit : Now that I really look at it, I notice the fonts are not as sharp in the top image. Interesting. :\

I think its just depends what emulator we used first. I always argue why snes9x is better than zsnes, only because Im accustomed to the ways of snes9x. whether it's better or not, I dont care, but my bias makes me think its better because im used to it.

That's the same for me  The first console emu i've ever touched was snes9x , i found the Win-integrated GUi very good ( i can't befriend myself with zsnes own gui ) , so i've stayed at snes9x ;)

That might explain those Nesticle fans that are still out there. ;)

Take it, some people don't care about the gfx nor the gui. Snes9x may not have the best gui, but who cares? It's not the gui that counts. It may not be as sharp as zsnes with filtering, but if you don't look really close like that and play at a little lower resolution, you won't notice.

People needs to stop complaining about such things, they are not everything in the world.

It plays the games fine, and that's all that matters. To me, at least.
