Well everythings been running smoothly up until recently.. all of a sudden it gets really really slow... like 10fps slow, and at the DC logo screen... it seems to be doing it with all my games, and i have no idea what to do.

So does anyone know how i can fix this?

Not only what are the programs you are running, what is your system spec? If ain't fast enough you ain't gonna run too far with this emu.

hmm... gonna run adaware to make sure nothing is making it fuk up, odd thing about that is, is when i have it running and i put up IE it starts to run normal, but as soon as i look back at it, it goes all slow again

*note, this only seems to be happening at the DC logo screen

I'll make it clear then, my system would make yours cry. Alienware or not.

Please post your complete specs so we can see what you may need help tweaking to get Chankast to load.

Cheers,

Mezkal

sigh... fine..
2.8 P4 HT
9800XT
1gig RAM
SB audigy 2

... hope that makes it clear enough

Nice :bouncy: ...

But emulators are mainly dependable on cpu power, so in this case my pc would be better... Also I noticed that up to now Chankast seems to like AMD better then P4....

It seems that 0.3 will be alot faster so these little differences won't matter anymore. But as you said it SUDDENLY started running slower could suggest programs running on the background that didn't before, a virus or a setting you have changed(like virtual meory). But I'm just guessing here ;)

Sigh....! LOL Don't get so high and mighty. My PC already runs faster than yours and my CPU is a "LOWLY" 2.6ghz OC'd of course :p. Maybe you might wanna try "learning" a few things before "purchasing" in the near future. You can't buy knowledge. You barely even explain what you're experiencing....

"..everythings been running smoothly up until recently.. all of a sudden it gets really really slow... like 10fps slow, and at the DC logo screen... it seems to be doing it with all my games, and i have no idea what to do"

....?? Try to be more specific. IE Which Game? How was it Loaded (CD-ROM or CD-Emulation app like Daemon-Tools)? What region is your DC's BIOS set too? etc etc. If you do some reading (though I doubt that's your strong point as you wasted good money purchasing an ordinary PC in a kickass case and almost good cooling system) around on these forums you'll see that we have a COMPATIBILITY LIST. Try reading through it to see whether your experience match those who have run similar DC games. If your experience differs, show us where it does with detailed feedback and screenshots.

I hope I didn't piss you off by saying you wasted money on your AlienWare PC as I'm sure you hope that you didn't piss US ALL OFF by posting arrogantly and without detail....

Sigh...

Oh btw, that spec information (which is barely detailed enough, motherboard? , speed of RAM? etc) belongs in your PROFILE. Makes it easier for all of US (with non AlienWank PCs) too help you out in future

Cheers,

Mezkal

Well you know by overclocking you take a certain risk, shorten the life of your cpu and make it less stable.... But on the other hand how much shorter will that lifespan be? After 3-4 years most of us have a new pc, and most instability occurs when you run multiple heavy programs...

I need stability for my work and when my pc is out of order I have a BIG problm with finishing my assignments...

Without doubt. But for me its a calculated risk. My point was more toward's ill_fated's continual sighing in two posts.....Just coz he has an AlienWare PC. LOL

Since we are all cock balling our system, mine is worse then all of yours :). I still get it to run with no problems though.

That said since you have Alienware it should work rather well. I would be one to think based on posts above you have some sort of spyware or bg programming running. Get into the registry - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

And make sure you have no hidden crap running.

Don't be so shy about posting your specs, it's not any kind of secret information that we can hack you with or something :p. Anyways, since your pc should be able to play alot of games smoothly, there's a couple of things that could be happening. While the emulator is cpu dependent, it doesn't mean bad graphics drivers can't slow it down. Make sure you have the latest of those. Also, it might just be that you have one of the games that just simply doesn't run well. What games are you trying to run on it? And finally, go to the task manager (ctrl alt del) and check your cpu usage. If it's over 30% at any consistent period of time, you have something going on there that's draining your cpu more than you wan't. Go to the processes tab and sort by cpu descending to see who's sucking up the most cpu power. If it's something you don't need running, end the process, otherwise find out how you can minimize its cpu usage.

The only time the Emu works full speed (60 FPS on certain games, without speed pig ^_^) is if i have it open in front of IE, or something. It wont run if i just have it sitting there on my desktop... And yes i know i spent a god awful amount of money(prices wont be mentioned <_<) on my Alienware, but im lazy and didnt feel like building my own. Oh and the games im running are all on the compatibilty list as working perfectly. Ex. JSR, Sega GT, Gundam Side Story, Ikaruga (looks perfect), etc. But this wont be a problem anymore by tomorrow (finally get a dreamcast... again. originally sold mine :( ). But yeah guys thx for all your help, its well appreciated ^_^
