...new, at a local store. Never played the Dreamcast version, except for a brief stint at a kiosk years ago. Tempting buy, despite the almost universal derision from the critics.

I've seen the videos; that camera is totally bonkers...

The user reviews however (I'm talking GameFAQs here) are largely positive. Any of you guys play it?

Just Another Wacko ;)
They usually start with the pros of a game but this is an exception, so...

- As you already said the camera is placed on weird spots sometimes.
- The graphics are almost the same as on the original DC version apart from the design of Sonic (the other characters are exactly the same).
- The original DC version seems to be faster and with less frameskipping than the GC and PC versions.
- The controls are a quite strange (difficult?) especially on PC without an analog pad.

The pros:

- The first released action/adventure 3D Sonic game.
- Many characters, each with his own unique mission and difficulty level.
- Some neat subgames.
- The DX version has more polygons than the DC version.
- The DX version has some "extra" missions that weren't on the DC version.
- The DX version also has some unlockable old Sonic games originally created for GameGear; From Sonic 1 to Sonic Drift and more...
- Only 10$

My opinion: The DX version could have been much better (regarding speed, GFX and controls) but unfortunately it isn't. Despite that, it's not a bad game and it could be considered as a classic.
Since you lost the DC version and you're given the chance to get it now (with extras and low price) you should not lose it. ;)

Yeah, most of the reviews seemed more critical of the fact that it wasn't a better port; fixing the issues that they tolerated with the original DC release (those same sites generally gave high marks to the DC version).

At your service, dood!
I've got the PC version of that game, definitely a nice game, wish they'd port Sonic Adventure 2 for the PC :(

Good luck. I was in there the other day and they were out. Oh well, wasn't really sure I wanted it anyway...

I've played Sonic DX, I conquered it, and it is definately a good game, has many advantages over Sonic Adventure, like Mini-games, Much better Graphics, and many more.
