quick question about the fps limit

It's limiting fps to 50 as represented in the lower right when running a game in windowed mode-- but why is my ati tray tools and my eyes seeing less in most games?

for example, some games actually do run at the 50 fps which is great, but some tend to, even though p64 is saying it's running at 50, actually run lower like at at 25, or 15 in aydin chronicles which is close to unplayable.

how do i correct this? I could take the fps limit off but that will speed up the gameplay too which is sort of not what I'm looking for. specs:

2.4 Ghz P4
1GB RAM
Radeon 9700 w/ catalyst 5.9

Don't confuse VI/s (what you see at the bottom of the emulator window) and FPS. Many games run as low as 20fps and perhaps lower. Use a video plugin that displays actual FPS (Rice's for example) and you'll see what I mean.

The real N64 commonly ran games at these speeds, so there is nothing you can do. The indicator at the bottom reports Fields per Second and not Frames per Second.

fields per second? this isn't interlaced is it? well i would argue and say it has to be possible to run games at a good frame rate, but you are two moderators telling me otherwise... so I would be a fool... or is there? even if it's another emulator/gfx plugin?

The framerate is exactly as the developers intended. You won't find an emulator or plugin that lets you increase it.
