Question on Sound, Recording Sound, And...Ms. Pac Man

OK I seriously did look all of this up before I decided to ask this but I've found nothing that helps me so far.

I have several questions:

1. I have Chankast, I have the game (Ms. Pac Man Maze Madness is the game in question) everything boots, everything runs. HOWEVER Ms. Pac Man has no sound. The cutscenes all have sound but none of the in-game music plays outside of sound effects. Is there a setting on Chankast I should click or is this a known error or what?

2. Is there any way to output music and/or record .wav files via Chankast? If so, how do you do that?

3. Is there any utility available that allows you to extract the music from a Dreamcast ISO? I'm looking to do some gamerips of DC games but I'm not exactly sure where or how to start until I get the music/sound situation resolved.

Thanks. :)

1. A good number games have glitchy sound or no sound at all. Get used to it. There are no settings in Chankast that affect sound.

2. No

It could be that the CD image you have is a modified one, where they took out the music to make it small enough to fit on a regular CD. I doubt that's the case, but it is possible. As for recording the audio, I'd get some software that records audio, and simply record it off your PC as you're playing the game.

Last, but perhaps not least, I am not currently aware of anything that can rip DC audio, unless it's using ADX for it's music/audio files. If it's using ADX, look around. I've seen all kinds of ADX extractors. If it's not ADX, the next best thing I can think (and this isn't that great) is to attempt to rip the audio to DSF, a branch off of the PSF format. Personaly, I highly doubt the DSF route is the way to go, since it seems to be a dead/abandoned format. If you really want to try though, then I'd recommend you learn how to rip USFs (N64 audio) and/or PSFs (Playstation audio). You can get a few tips and tricks about ripping at the PSF_Rippers Yahoo group, or http://www.halleyscometsoftware.com/usf/ (check the FAQ and Forums).

Hopefully that helped a little. Good luck with the sound issue getting resolved though. Mouser X over and out.

Thanks for the quick and timely responses! I do appreciate it :)

I browsed the CD content and unfortunately did not see any ADX or ASF files so I'm wondering if your music assesment of earlier isnt too far off =\

Either way thanks for all your help. Nice to find a DC Emulator that actually works
