I just recieved a Boom PSX+N64 USB Converter. For the past 2 hours I have been trying to get my Playstation Controller to work with Project 64 with the game Super Mario 64.

I calibrated the controller in the Control Panel in Windows XP Pro. But when I go to configure the buttons in Project 64 (also tried 1964) nothing happens. I press the button I want and it doesnt register it.

I dont understand why this happens. Does anybody have any idea? Any help would be much appreciated.

Why dont you try using an N64 controller for an N64 game :p....or you can go buy a cheap $10 psx usb converter at a local radioshack.

have you selected the "4 axis 16 button controller" in the input plugin configuration drop down menu?

Well there is no RadioShack in Ireland and I dont have an N64 controller. Smiff, when I go to choose Game Device from the input plugin configuration drop down menu is shows up as none. There is no option for "4 axis 16 button controller"

When you calibrate it, there you can see what buttons are pressed and what axis are moved normally, see you there a reaction of your controller?
And in the System Control where you calibrate your controller, there should be a window with all your connected controllers listed, normally you should see the "4 axis 16 button controller" listed in there.

If its listed in there, you should be able to select into the Input Plugin´s configuration dialog.

The Boom N64/PSX adapters are known to be a little unstable, mine for example works only with a N64 Controller if I connect a PSX Controller too on the other connector :plain:

Thanks for the help Jesterhead and Smiff. It is working now. I've been playing games all weekend. Though in some of them like F-Zero, I do get very low FPS down to 20 - 30 frames per second and its quite annoying when it happens every 10 seconds.

Is there any way I can prevent this from happening or so that it happens alot less often.

My computer specifications are;
Intel Pentium 4 3.06GHz
512 MB RAM
55GB Space
GeForce FX Go 5200
