Problem with Ocarina of Time

I've searched this problem already and it seems there's been quite a few people that have also had this same problem. Basically, when I open the menu and go to the select item screen (the one where you pick a shield or sword) there's just a blank white rectangle where link's supposed to be shown.

I was wondering if anyone knows how to solve this problem because all the other people in the topics that I searched had the problem but never discussed how to solve it. So I was wondering if there's another GFX plugin I should use that takes care of it, or is there a series of settings that will take care of it (although I've pretty much tried them all already)?

Anyways, I'm using PJ64 V1.6 with the default plugins for GFX and sound, so if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Also, on a side note, there's always this little green square in the top left corner of the screen when playing the game - only at certain parts does it show though, and I'm wondering if anyone knows what it is.

The first issue is a driver problem that often happens with NVIDIA cards and Jabo's D3D8 plugin. It can be fixed with much older drivers, but it may be simpler to switch graphics plugins and retain newer drivers. Glide64/glN64()/Direct64 all work okay with Zelda.

The second thing you mentioned is an artifact that is in the original game. Its the icon that shows where a dungeon is once you have entered it. There are no dungeons on certain maps, so it just gets stored in the extreme top lefthand corner. This is normally cut off when playing on a TV, but a monitor has no overscan, so you can still see it. Direct64 has a 'simulate overscan' option that gets rid of it.

Okay thanks, Clements. And yes, I have a Nvidia card so that's probably the cause. I have one quick question though: do any of these plugins have an option like in Jabo 1.6 where in the advanced tab it has an option that says "adjust games aspect ratio to match yours."

The only reason I ask is because I have a widescreen monitor and I hate playing the game stretched, so which one would be the best for that (if any)?

Thanks.

The option you speak of is a unique Jabo-only feature. There is a version of Glide64 that maintains a 4:3 image with black borders on a widescreen monitor, though.

Oh well. It's really not that big of a problem and I'd rather have to put up with the white rectangle instead of having to play in 4:3. Thanks for the info though. :)

Is Link's drawing the only problem?

Pretty much; like I said it's not that bad (it was more annoying than anything, and I'll live with it for the ability to play in widescreen).
