problem playing roms

I just started using this emulator after all of the other ones didnt work and after I fixed the "plug in controller in socket 1" problem, whenever I try to play a rom it says "emulator exception" something like that and shuts down 1964 so what do I do

Why i download the pj64 and i cannot use cheats when i dl complete than i click the system than there nv put anything all is grey colour press also cannot press what should i do inorder to use it pls help me

kelvinang, make sure u have a good dump rom (there is a [!] in the end of the filename, example: F-ZERO X (U) [!].v64 )

then, u should get the cheat list, when u press ctrl+C once the game is running...
