Ok, I'm sure you've probably heared this a billion times already, and I read the FAQ over and over again. yet still can't get the emulator to do what I need it to do.

Why can't I boot my original Dreamcast games such as Sonic Adventure?

When booting from and ISO image, the emulator works very well, no error (aside from the few bugs mentioned on the forums, but I'm simply blown away by the fact that this exists!). However, when booting from my real CD ROM (a Toshiba 16X DVD-R/w 40x CD-R/w combo drive), the BIOS goes into the CD Player, and does in fact detect that a CD-ROM is loaded. My system has the following Specs:

Windows XP SP1
2.2 Ghz P4
128 MB Radeon 9800 Pro
512 PC3200 DDR Memory
180 GB Hard Drive

I have swapped the DVD ROM drive out with 2 other drives, and the same issue occurs. I have the ASPI drivers installed as per your FAQ and am using the Windows installed IDE drivers. I also tried the other CD-ROM plugin, but to no avail...

If I can get the emulator to boot my original DC games, I'd be more then happy to make a donation of 10$ (yes, I know I'm cheap, but I'm poor as well ^_^;). Any help would be GREATLY appreciated and please keep up the excellent work with this superb emulator!

ermm original Dreamcast games are GD-Rom games and are not readable by standard DVD-Rom drives.

That's why it won't work :p

(correct me if I'm wrong please)

currently there's only (not only but basically) selfbootable image file support. although this is not TOTALLY true it is more or less the "best way to play"

I guess that would make sense, conidering you can't rip the games without the dreamcast as well. It's just that I thought maybe they found a way to emulate the GD-ROM. Actually, I went back to the FAQ and read this a bit more carefully this time...

The emulator supports only selfbootable backups, original and non-selfbootable disks will not work

I mistakened the comma as a seperator for the support for original games. Sorry, error on my part. Thanks for the response, I'll probably rip my Originals to an Image and it should probably work fine.
