Problem Mounting Skies of Arcadia Image

I have some disk images for SOA, in the form of an mds and an mdf file per CD (4 files in total, were stored in a 7z file). But when I try to mount the mds file, it gives an error, 'invalid ADR field detected'. The same error occurs with both Deamon tools (v3.29), and alcohol 120% (1.9.5.2802). I think this may be the Echelon rip aswell, but cant be sure. Has anyone seen any problems like this and whats the best way to go about fixing it?

Hi, the only thing I could find through google is that's it's a bug concerning the image created. The only solution I could find is mounting the mdf file instead of the mds and it should work. If this will not work then you can try to rebuild a new selfbootable image. Try to copy all data from these image with UltraISO, MagicISO or whatever is available. Include the procedure to remove the echelon intro from SOA if this is present. This is all I could think of. Maybe someone else has a better solution. I will check later for other responds to this.

Good luck.

Doesnt let me mount the mdf files either, their an invalid file type, would there be a program to rip the data off the images without actually mounting them? I tried magicISO and even when converted to either bin or ISO file, they still wont work, but they do mount.

Hi

I had some questions about SOA and DC as well. did not want to create a new thread for it though. anyway

1. the compatibility guide shows SOA (non echleon) as working fine except the inventory problem, does it means all other bugs is non present? like the control of the movement going crazy in the echleon version

2. What exactly is self bootable disc? Thought all DC games can self boot if that what it means literally.

I'm not sure of the answer of your first question, but not all DC images are selfbootable. If they are repackaged, [like Echelon does] there is a chance that they do not boot on their own and you would need to use a boot disk to boot it on a DC. However, there are ways to make images selfbootable by inserting boot files within and recompling the image.

On a side note, DC images run optimally on a real, retail Dreamcast. I suggest burning selfbootable images and playing on your own Dreamcast if you own one. It feels, runs, and plays much better than when emulated on a PC.
