Problem mapping controller buttons with PS2 controller

For some reason, PJ64 refuses to believe my PS2 USB controller exists. I've used it for ZSNES, VBA, and random games in the past, so I KNOW it works, but when I try to map the buttons to controls, it doesn't recognize the controller.

And yes, I have the N-rage plugin, didn't help

Thanks

You have to select the controller from the list. If you did that and it's not there, make sure you have it in your "game controllers" control panel. If you did that and it is there, but it isn't recognizing your buttons, try turning the deadzone up. I know my left analog needs about 15% deadzone and the right needs about 25% or they'll appear to be moving. Try moving the deadzone to about 50% and see if it recognizes the buttons then.

Ok, I think the problem might be with that control panel dealie. Its not in there, but I'm not sure how to get it in there...

There is a huge list of possible controllers (What Superbox Pro and Superbox? Its already installed but I don't recognize it...) like "2 axis 2 button joystick", "2 axis 4 button joystick", "5 button joystick w/POV", I have NO IDEA what my controller is...

Its a normal PS2 controller hooked up to a USB adapter. I'll fiddle with it, but some further help would be appreciated.

Ok, good news bad news time.

Good news: I fiddled with it for some time and got the controller to work

Bad news: I keep getting this BS error message when I try to play a game. It says

"While processing graphics data an exception occurred
you may need to restart the emulator"

It occurs multiple times, playing the game is impossible. What might be causing this damn error?

Its a default laptop card... I know it isn't going to run Prey anytime soon, but it should be able run a goddamn N64 game

According to TuneUp Utilities 2006:

Intel(R) 915GM/GMS 910GML Express Chipset

...I have no idea if this is it or not, I know next to nothing about computer parts. All I know is that its the factory-installed card on an Inspiron 6000.

use Jabo's Dx6 plugin.

and its not a card, its a chip embedded into the mainboard.

the only manufacturers i know that use actual laptop graphic cards/chips are alien ware with the interchangeable go chips.

I have a different problem altogether - my analogue sticks are both fully calibrated as detailed in the windows controllers screen and everything works in Project64... except the RIGHT analogue stick, and only when I try to tell it to go to the right!

Left, up and down all work - its only when I try to get it to register going right. I figure the entry it's supposed to register is Z+, but I can't seem to get into the config file to edit it (config file doesnt seem to be standard text). Anybody else got this problem? It's using the Super Joy Box 5 Pro, a ps2 controller and project64 1.6.

By the way, this emulator rules! So cool to get playing N64 games on PC! My N64's controller got busted so I can't play on it any more (kick ass controllers, but durability sucks).

Oh - and this thing:

"While processing graphics data an exception occurred
you may need to restart the emulator"

I only ever got this popping up once when another game was trying to start up - could another graphics grabbing utility be using whatever resource the emularot needs to run? After I shut everything else down, it worked grand.

yeah, Games tend to lock the API they are using whch in turn locks the video hardware, preventing other programs from using it, this is one thing that has been fixed in Vista and Dx10
