PLZ Make Ogre Battle a Sticky Subject!!!!

Hi everyone :)

I think the subject about peoples problems with Ogre Battle needs to be made a sticky subject

There are so many people with the same problem, and so many threads, it only makes sense to use one thread, then maybe we will be one step closer to solving the problem.

My personal problem is that all the battles have black backgrounds, i have scanned my ROM and it is fine.

Some people do not seem to have this problem at all, and have shown screenshots of the backgrounds working fine, it would be a great help to find out exactly what they are doing differently.

Lets sort this problem out once and for all :D :D :D

It is a compatibility problem of your graphics card.
Please post your system specs to see if anyone can help you. :)

you know what... that got me thinking
i know there are ALOT of games for the N64, but why not just make a sticky thread for each one... that way it won't get cluttered so much...kinda like a database.
i don't know much at all about managing forums so it may be an obscene thing to ask...but its just an idea...

unless they made a sub-forum, then we'd have to scroll down a lot to read other threads...

and that would be quite annoying

Ok, just something i picked up from searching the forums here

Is it true that the black background problem can be solved by altering the #Ucode? If so what do you change it to and how?
Also if anyone else knows of any solution to this problem please share!

On a side note, before anyone tells me how this topic has been repeated so many times and to just search for the threads, well i have :satisfied, and there is nothing of any real help, so i just suggest anybody who needs help with this game, just keeps it in one topic.

That should keep everyone happy :)

Just a thought.

I'm no expert on this, but I did notice a few funny things about the graphics bug in Ogre Battle that no-one else seems to have posted. Firstly, in some areas, the backgrounds DO display (the sepia intro at the start, for example), but a lot of the time they don't. Interestingly, during the sequence at the end of the first Temple of Berthe scene (near the end of the second last chapter), the background doesn't display until halfway through the sequence, then the screen flashes as some demons are summoned or something, and when it fades back, the background DOES show. Also, I know it's not graphics card incompatibility, because I've tried it on the same computer with a Kyro 2 and a Geforce 4 Ti-4200 and gotten the same problem.

You know... from this, it sounds like an oddity I noticed when I played some Paper Mario on PJ64. In the intro, when you first see Bowser in low light, all the characters appear jet black, but they should be darkened only a little bit (I have both of these carts :satisfied). Maybe the lighting calcs are off?

Hmmmmm, interesting :getlost: lol

Just a little request

Anyone that never had these problems or managed to fix them/make them better or whatever, could you please say exactly what you could be doing differently.

If not, well then lets just hope one of us solves the mystery

i was just thinking about this topic and thought of something. why not make a sticky topic with a whole bunch of fixes for games? so instead of getting people asking the same thing over and over they could just go to that topic and search thru it ^_^

edit: er...oops...i shoulda just edited my other post instead of postin a new one ^^; sorry bout that...

?????????????????????????
Why? They can just search. If they don't even bother reading the rules, why should they bother reading that topic first?

Ye ive been updatin :satisfied

I got Omega drivers for my Graphics card, and downloaded Directx 9, but the dam fing still has black backgrounds :getlost:

Ah hopefully someone will find a way to solve it, coz i swear sum peeps have, but they jus seem to have disapeared

Again if anyone has even the slightest clue on a way to get the backgrounds, then just say, never know, might work :)

no 'solved'

No one 'solved' anything. It just works with some configurations - no changes needed. Other configurations - plop. Doesn't work. Never will.

The real issue is with Jabo's plug-in. No sources. Can't fix it. Jabo won't fix it. His 2D implementation isn't that good. Too bad. Ogre Battle isn't that great of a game anyway. Move on. Play another game!

Are you sure the backgrounds work fully on some computers? Does anybody here have a system that they work on?

Maybe the Project64 GameFAQs help file should include more detail (settings-wise) and games... I would, but I know nothing about making/altering help files for one and also I don't have permission.

Clements...several attempts to do a "similar" guide ranging for all emulators have been made. Wy don't you try to continue an old one? Like the "Game settings" topic (somewhat old) in the general n64 emu section?
