Playing over Network

Doomulation

?????????????????????????
I don't know if you xan help me, but...
I just can't figure out WHY IT DOES NOT WORK. And it's driving me mad.
Trying to play a game over network. One hosts, the other joins.
The deal is, I have disabled both firewalls because they were interfering. BUT, when I host a game, the other computer does not find the hosted game! However, the other way around works!
The router I'm using using does not block any traffic, from what I have seen (looked through its logs). So I'm at loss - why does it work one way and not the other?

This computer uses Vista build 5536. The other uses XP. It used to work before, even with the firewalls on! This computer uses Windows Firewall and the other uses Outpost Firewall.
On a side note, what's a good firewall for Vista, or how do you view the logs from the Windows Firewall? Window Firewall is so pathetic I hate it.

At your service, dood!
Networking is always a tricky business - ok first off you have to ensure both of your LAN pc's have the same IP address, subnet mask and default gateway setup.

As on my setup:

PC1 - IP:10.0.0.10, subnet: 255.0.0.0, default gateway: 10.0.0.2, dns server: 10.0.0.2
PC2 - IP:10.0.0.7, subnet: 255.0.0.0, default gateway: 10.0.0.2, dns server: 10.0.0.2

I'm guessing one of the machines isn't setup with the correct IP and stuff.

Both machines recieve all network settings from DHCP built into the router. So, gateway, subnet and ips are automatically aquired and are the same :plain:
Computer 1 (Vista):

IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.132
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1

Computer 2 (XP):

IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.113
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1

Now that you mention it, the router has been malfunctioning lately (UPnP doesn't work properly; nor the firewall). I had to manually set up port forwarding for bit torrent.
