I cant get the sound to play properly, it is seroiusly scrachy and distorted. I have tried the troubleshooter but the 'Sync game to audio' doesnt show up in my emulator menu. Help please :-S

Correction, now it shows up but the sound is still the same and emulation is mega slow.

I am having the same problem. I'm running 1.6 with a P$ 2.53 Ghz, 512 Ram, and a Geforce4 MX 440 card (I know the card should be upgraded, but it ran PJ64 fine until today). Plugins are Jabo's Video 3D8 and DirectSound 1.6, with the newest N-Rage. Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: Weird, but it seems to be fixed now. I rebooted the program, if that helps anyone else with the problem.

Which version of the N-Rage "direct input" controller plugin are you using? If you are using the BETA version (the 2.0) it ~might~ by some insanely ~slim~ chance be causing you issues. I doubt that is the case, but you might want to try to downgrade to the 1.8 "official" version, and see if your slow-down issue disappears.

The default system audio drivers is your sound card, unless you have multiple sound cards in your computer.

My Direct-Input Plugin is "N-Rage's Direct-Input8 V2 1.80a", if that helps.

I found that shifting into fullscreen negated the problem, but coming out of fullscreen restarted the problem.

I'd say that you might want to try the "N-Rage's Direct-Input V2 1.83" instead, since it's an improved version. It ~still~ shouldn't be a cause for slowdown, but who knows, since I believe you are using an "alpha" version there.

As for it working in Fullscreen, but slowing down in Windowed mode, what settings have you got for your Graphics plugin going? In your "Windowed resolution" and "Fullscreen resolution" what are you set at?

I'm having the same exact problem, when I start either both zeldas, paper mario or mario tennis, the sound is distorted and squeeks. I tried to stick it on Sync audio but it lags the video. help please :x

Make sure your computer meets the minimal specs for Project 64, and that you are using the default plugins. The distortion and squeeking sounds like you have plugin problems.

Graphics Settings:
Windowed Res: 640x480
FSR: 1280x1024 16 Bit 60hz
FSS: Transfer Memory

Ansio:2x
FSAA: 2x

Default everything else.

Edit: Where can I find the 1.83 version? I haven't been able to find it yet.

The settings ~seem~ solid... question though? Do you have your computer's default resolution set at 1280x1024 at 16Bit? Because while it WILL let you switch between fullscreen and windowed quickly, if your video card can't handle that resolution in fullscreen mode it will NOT run well. And believe it or not, 640x480 at 32bit resolution is what I am using, and it looks almost identical to the real N64 versions of my games. You might want to try that out.

As for where to find the 1.83 version of N-Rage's Direct-Input, I found mine at the "http://www.ngemu.com/", however it seems that they are down (again) at the moment. And I can't get N-Rage's webpage to show up. According to his plugin, his webpage should have been "http://go.to/nrage.com". If you can't find it, I'll upload it to here, I think that's alright.
