Paper Mario strange rare bug (nonvideo related)

I got up to the part where you rescue the little yoshis, and i fought a lil fake bush and right after the battle, Mario froze in his spot. The game didn't recognize any commands. Project64 was working fine but Mario wouldnt move at all. None of the buttons worked. How can I fix this? It's been a long time since i saved (normally), and i accidently overwrote my most recent save state.

The screen shows where i was when it happened, not sure if it helps though.

Haha, I had the exact same bug. Around the same place. Could have even been the same plant. The only hope is to start from your last save. Or in my case, give up because I had no other saves.

No, it's not a bad rom, just a bad bug >.<

I think there would be an error messege or something if it was a bad rom, but it's just some kinda weird bug that I really hate right now...

It doesnt sound like a bad rom issue... maybe just a part of the file was corrupted in transfer or something.. maybe like how songs get poppy after you rip them from cd's. But, sounds like its reproducable, and some else has had it. It might be that because you hadnt saved sorrectly in a while, and correct saves wipe the slate clean of any strange things like that, i remember this being an issue with zelda, people not saving it correcly and all the tiny strange things built up and screwed it over.

I don't quite follow what you are saying, but i was trying to first strike a fake bush (corner with a tree) and i was holding right and mario did his little pose when he talks to someone and i was holding right. After the battle it stopped responding to the player 1 controller. That's all i know.

Edit: Recalled some more, it was either in the same area as the upgrade for sushi, or one area away *you have to swim to get to the corner im talking about, the tree is in a forward type direction (your perspective) and the bush is right in front of it.

I just played the same place again. This time though, Mario didn't do his little talking pose. It didn't bug this time. I think its a glitch in the game. I'm not sure why it happened last time though.

Funny how everyone says they dont understand that. I thought it made sense.

Basically if you have some slight emlation glitch, and save with a savestate, it wont glitch your game. Over time as heaps of tiny insignifficant glitches build up, your game eventually freezes.

The only way to clear the glitches is to use a internal save (battery save etc) and then make new emulator based save states after you load the battery one.

Paper Mario bad ROM

Hey, i recently downloaded a Paper Mario ROM and it only seems to work with 1964. The problem is that there is no sound at all, and things flicker and disapear a lot. Any suggestions?

IIRC Schibo's audio plugin (default in 1964) doesn't work with Paper Mario. Try one of Azimer's instead.

BTW, next time start a new thread instead of gravedigging.

Paper Mario video issue

It was running pretty good when i first tried it. i played it for an hour on Pj64, but now there is constant flicker in Toad Town and Shooting Star Summit and it seems to be running really slow. any suggestions?

Also, there are several black sprites. Is this fixible or is it because of the emulation transfer?

These are frames it jumps between in Toad Town:
(it is much the same in Shooting Star Summit)

?????????????????????????
Did you try glide64? I know jabo's has this problem.
Apparently glide64 and rice's plugin doesn't have this problem (afaik).
