Paper Mario Help

Hi people, I can't any further than the princess's bedroom in Paper Mario. When the windows glass shatters the game freezes my computer. I've tried both Jabo's&Daedelus Plugins, + with or without sound without any success. Any ideas?

It hangs at the same point with Project64 as well. My comp is a *ahem* AMD K6-2 366MHZ, 128MB SDRAM, WINDOWS 98, ATI RAGE PRO TURBO AGP X2 GRAPHICS

Thanks in advance

Your system are a bit out of dated "AMD K6-2 366MHZ" is not very good for N64 emulation, you won't get support for the team if your system is below the minium requirements. Sorry to say this, but, get a new computer.

Up until that point the game itself runs at about 80%, and the graphics are near perfect. I've not had any problems with any other games. Most run between 50-100% w/w-out sound, and with very few graphical glitches. Hell even Banjo Tooie works brillantly!!)

I believe this can be resolved with a proper ini setting. I have seen this problem a long time ago and it was resolved at one point..looks like it's back.

Yey!!! I managed to get it to work by adding the following to the ini file..

FPU Hack=2
DMA=2
Link 4KB Blocks=2
Assume 32bit=1

)

First off Assume 32bit WAS off by default in the Ini, so you must have changed it or your using a earlier Ini.

Secondly i checked the problem your having (in the same spot your talking about, at the glass shatter) and it played fine with no freeze.

Things to note:

1) Your system is way below spec, and that means you arent or cant run the game at anywhere near full speed, so you will have problems.
2) You stated that this happens with 1964 AND PJ64, AND with any plugin you try, and you also state a few times (without sound) that tells me its NOT an Ini/Rom setting but your system.

I am only pointing out that people with far better systems still have some flashing and other small problems, so if your trying to run it with a way below spec system AND get the same results with other emulators and all other plugins, nothing you do will help much short of getting a better processor and video card.

Until i see people that meet the required system specs having and reporting problems, i dont feel cumfortable changing rom settings that have been working fine all along :)

Also by shutting off FPU Hack and Link blocks your essentially taking more things offline and gaining that little bit of speed, because thats what you suffer from.

I'm not really sure which line I added to the ini gave it the kick up the ass it needed. It's fixed now, thats the main thing )

So this post can simply serve as a troubleshooter for anybody else who has probs with Paper Mario.

I was actually contemplating buying a new PC before today. But 1964 on my puny system is comparatively fast. So I think I'll hang tight, until AMD bring out their 64bit superchip before investing in a new puter.

Very cool, im glad it worked out, as theres allways ways to get as much as you can out of any machine with 1964. Hope i didnt make that post come across the wrong way, (if so didnt mean to :), and if theres anything i can do to help please, send an IM, would be glad to help, as sharing of any knowlege is allways a good thing :)
