98SE? What's that? Is that like an 8-track player? And Windows ME? Isn't that something like a Ford Pinto?

DirectX 9

Naah. I run DirectX 9.0b and get very similar 3D performance in 98SE and XP (I've got a triple-boot system; Fedora Core Linux is the primary OS).

Supposedly WDM driver support was lacking from 9x, fixed up in 98SE, and a little more in ME. Does this have much to do with Chankast?

Any informed user know? :p

Actually come to think of it...if your still using Windows 98 or ME your computer is probably too slow for Dreamcast emulation. I'm sure there's the odd person that installed 98se on a modern PC but the majority of PC's running Windows 98 or ME are probably 1ghz or less. Windows 98 is much faster on a slower computer with not much RAM but I would much rather run at least Windows 2000 on any computer I had. Windows 2000 is much more stable, doesn't require to be reinstalled as much, supports more of the latest software, way easier/more configurable networking, and I would say much more secure but that's not so much the case anymore with all the exploits people are finding.

Some people may argue that Windows 98 is plenty stable and doesn't need to be reinstalled often but that just means you don't push your computer hard, uninstall/reinstall software often, download a lot of stuff, and add new hardware semi frequently.

Can't see your point there.... but networking in 98SE IS HARD! anyway about "but that just means you don't push your computer hard,..." hmm.. win98 was made to run on slower PC's yes.. BUT installing it on a faster PC means that u can use more "juice" on other applications that requires more CPU usage... anyway i might still be wrong :p this is just my opinion or whatever...

:whistling back to my original post... SO you guys gonna make a win9x/ME compatible version or not???

JPL. While Win98 may be fine for you, it isn't fine for almost everyone else. It's no longer supported by MS. It doesn't work *properly* with more than 512MB of RAM and it will not use extended features such as Suspend, ACPI or most importantly Hyper Threading (which is where P4's excell in Windows XP). The worst part about Win 98 is that its almost completely unstable when pushed. While you may enjoy the delights of getting more "juice" by giving stability, security and overall performance the rest of the world is not.

When you're in the minority and it serves no purpose do you think you should be heard?

Reminds me of those old men who complain that the world was so much better when they were younger.

You're not impressing anyone. Moreover you're just going to annoy the Chanka devs and the mods here. Why? Try reading some of the "stickied" threads here. Basically you're posting a feature request and that is a no no.

Cheers,

mezkal

WhiteX,

He didn't ask for ISOs and dumping them is perfectly legal - as long as you own the original GD-ROM.

JPL, There are some stickied threads, one which is entitled, "how to make you Homebrewed games bootable". I recommed yoiu a have a red around there too start with. It should give you the info. you need.

CHeers,
Mezkal
