Opening Ocarina of Time crashes PJ64 D:

I downloaded the rom from emuparadise, which has generally been a reliable site for me, but something weird keeps happening. The first time I played it, it worked okay and I was goofing around with levitation and other cheats. I didn't save anything I did then, because I basically threw link off the side of the map. I reset the game, and saw the Nintendo 64 logo as usual, then PJ64 locked up and I got a message saying it encountered an error and had to close. Since then I have not been able to run that rom; I re-downloaded it from various sites and none of these have worked either. Please help D: I can't stand to be without this classic </3

Please do not tell us where you get your illegal ROMs. That's quick and painless way to earn a ticket to banland.

What most likely happened is that the cheats messed up your ROM settings and any save files created for that game. This is why every other copy of the game regardless of where you got it from exhibit the same problems. Cheats do not touch the data inside the ROM (rather tamper with the data in memory, so it's impossible to "corrupt" the physical ROM file itself (unless you actually tamper with the data inside the ROM yourself and save the changes, i.e. hack it).

So disable all cheats, delete all save games that the game might have created and overwrite the RDB file with a clean one.

Cheats don't mess up rom settings, thats not possible.

They can however, mess up the battery save file, so try deleting that.

Hmm... Seen the thread "RULES THREAD - READ THIS BEFORE POSTING!"?

First paragraph: "Do not ask for ROMs (commercial games), tell people where to get ROMs, or ask people to contact you outside the forum. This includes discussion relating to back-up units."
