Here is the thing. In PJ64 when the rom selection screen comes up at the start, where my Diddy Kong Racing rom is located it says that it is a bad rom, I would understand that, but the thing is it plays great, The only thing is that in the window it says "Diddy Kong CRACKED" so i am assuming that someone edited the rom somehow. The thing is i was just wondering if there was a way to make it say the name properly. I guess its not a big deal consdiering the game plays flawlessly, but it would be nice to be able to change it....

Also the code for the rom that goodn64 puts out at the end of the file is [b1] what does that mean ?

Re: Diddy Kong Racing Nintendo 64 ROM

The "b1" definitely means the ROM is bad. The Diddy Kong Racing Nintendo 64 ROM was not a hacked ROM. If it was hacked, an "h" would be there, not "b".

Case closed.

I have the same rom.
Diddy Kong Racing (U) (M2) (V1.0) [b1]
It works perfectly and is verified to work with GoodN64. You don't need to hex edit anything, just enjoy the game. Its Project64's limited Database thats at fault, not your rom. If it bothers you, you can change 'unknown' to 'compatable' in the rom settings.

Here's a list of codes (included in GoodN64) that comes handy if you need explanations. :)

The database is "limited" because the authors chose, rightfully so, to focus only on verified good [!] roms. Creating a database (rdb) with the CRCs, names, and settings of all 1800+ known roms would be quite a chore. Sure your bad rom may seem to work just fine, but maybe it will crash midway through the game.

Then again, maybe it won't. :)
