Nintendo Sued Over Controller Patent

Doomulation

?????????????????????????
I found that as well. Like Intivsion, another company who hopes to ride on Nintendo's success? It's funny how companies just pop up with some stupid patent and tries to sue other when it suites them. US Laws really needs to be looked after.

This is bullocks, according to what I've heard the Wiimote doesn't operate anything like the control device does in the patent. Nintendo will probably pay anyways to shut them up similar to what Microsoft did. In this case I find it unnecessary that these kinds of patent trolls or patent sitters even deserve anything.

All I have to say is Patents are slowing the market, Stifling innovative creative thoughts and creativity. Pretty soon patents will be plastered all over everything, and no one will be able to make anything and get it manufactured without fear of being sued, and paying money to supposed patent trolls who sits on patents, and then decides to sue another company that implements a vastly similar idea, all to try and squeeze free money out of companies when the necessary product becomes a success.

Sorry thats Just my thoughts, doesn't matter if anyone disagrees with me though:bouncy:

You haven't patented breathing, though, so I can just create some new air and breathe it =)
*cough* Seriously, I wonder what will happen. No news for a while. Though lawsuits do take quite some time.

Omg.... i can't beileve they did that!.
Interlink is gonna lose. cause How can a Computer company when Computers are used for Work and they make mouses and stuff. and the Wii is made for entertainment. They think they can just get money off of nintendo. i mean its like when universal sued nintendo For creating Donkey kong cause it resembled King Kong. Interlink is just gonna end up paying nintendo in the end...
and all interlink dose is sue sue sue sue sue. QUIT SUEING PEOPLE INTERLINK!

Agreed.

There needs to be something in there about actually using your patent, or defending it from the start, instead of waiting several years or more to try and cash in.

Although you can see why with this type of lawsuit, which these patent holders seem to win at an alarming rate, Sony gave up on the rumble feature for PS3.

Indeed

They are probably just a bunch of crackheads that ran out of drug money :p

But seriously, Patents are stupid. Some guy thinks up something, and patents it, and does absolutely nothing with it, or charges an insane amount of money for it. Its almost like a monopoly.

I made a smiliar comment a few weeks ago about how copyright laws are regresive and only really serve to protect a few people, while the mases are disadvantage by them.

Potentially, (although not realisticly), this law suit could prevent Nintendo from selling Wii's, which is an example of how copyright laws are regresive.

This is how invention works:

1. Someone comes up with an idea which revolutionises the way we do things.

2. Someone else modifies the invention to make it even better.

Copyright laws prevent this sequence occuring, with copyright laws, the following sequence happens.

1. Someone comes up with an idea which revelutionises the way we do things.

2. The invention is never improved upon because the copyright holder already has the rights to it and has no insentive to improve it. Anyone else wishing to improve it is prevented due to infringment of copyright.

An exampe of this is Dyson vacuum cleaners, the Dyson has never been improved because it is a success and there is no need finicial need to improve it, other competitors are prevented from doing so as the Dyson cleaning system is copyrighted

Conclusion has to be that copyright laws are regresive and prevent society from the benefits of improving other peoples designs.

The funny thing is that some companies just like to copyright things and hope someone uses it later so they can sue them.

if copyright laws only applied to the original idea (and some others if they have plans on making it better soon instead of years later) then we would probably already be in the "future" lolz as it is they are just a load of bs when things like this happen.
