NemuNewbie...Expert advice? Please?

I'm not new to emulation. I most often use 1964 and PJ64 and I find them excellent. All the talk about online Nemu has me trying it out.

Feedback wise, I can't get this emulator to work properly. At least for the 2 games, GoldenEye and Perfect Dark. PD loads up to the main splash page graphic, but freezes before it gets to the options screen. GoldenEye won't even load.

Ini file wise, I see that a lot of games are listed that they won't work properly. Now if I'm using a Jabo graphics plug-in, will these game work properly? Otherwise it just seems like Nemu can't run many of the games I'd like to play.

I'd like to think better of Nemu, so I'm looking for someones opinion/advice. Can this emulator run games like GoldenEye and Perfect Dark as well as 1964 and PJ64? Really, these are the only 2 games that I really care about.

I've read that Nemu is the best emulator, but I don't see that at this moment. Thanks.

For me PD runs partitially. Download my ini at the NEMU-board for more information.

I can't play Perfect Dark, because it *always* locks up
when attempting to enter *any* stage. Help!

I want to know why Perfect Dark *always* locks up
on me! My specs are:

Chaintech CT-7AJA2E motherboard,
Athlon T-Bird 900 mhz,
384MB SDRAM,
GeForce 2 MX200 32MB,
Windows 98 SE and Windows XP Pro

Does it work on other emulators? Which version of the rom do you have (check with goodn64)?

Depends on the reason stated in the ini, that the game won't work.

If it is a problem related to the emulator, then the game probably won't work with any graphics plugin you try.

However, if it states that it is a problem with the graphics, then you have a chance with another plugin, as the ini would have been based on nemus own graphics plugin.

As mightyrocket has already stated, he has created an ini for nemu, and so did flow, due to the fact that with all respect to the authors, it was in a pretty bad way.

Good luck anyway, and enjoy :)

I didn't tell you what ROM version I had before, sorry.

The Perfect Dark ROM version is:

Perfect Dark (U) [v1.0] !

-----------------------------------------

The Perfect Dark ROM has the big endian byte order.

BTW, I can get to the menus, but when I'm supposed to be entering a stage, it locks up at the menus.
(when I press the button to enter a stage)

I also get random lock-ups (when Joanna uses the laptop at the beginning) using Jabos D3D6 1.5 with Nemu 0.8. My rom is Perfect Dark (E) [!]. However, I also get freezes in many other games too, like Mario Kart 64.

flow you are the kind of b*tch that loves the fact that I'll never meet you. The fact is if I knew who you were, I'd be paying you a visit. Who the f*ck are you? You likely can't be past puberty. You talk like that to me? Not to my face. Count yourself lucky that we aren't in the same room. Catch my drift? Your balls are big on here. You don't know me. I'd pound you if I saw you. That is no crap.

For me, Perfect Dark *always* locks up when pressing the button
to enter a stage, but usually no lock up when Joanna is typing
and if I don't try to enter a stage and stay at the Carrington Institute. :(

flow, GE Master:
You were both quite out of line. Flow, you had no reason to flame gemaster. Having a bad day/weekend does not justify that. GE Master: You did not have to reply to flow, especially in the manner you did. I expect you both to applogise, either privately via private messages or in this thread. I will not give out warning points to either of you, although I seriously considered giving some to flow.

yea i agree with slougi this is totally out of order.

FLow: you just have to look @ GE Masters Sig to visit His Site to know he has committed a hell of a lot of time to GE for everyones/His Own pleasure.

Lets have a big sorry fest here.

GE Master: An understandible reaction but again like Flows Remark un-needed.

Also to let you know if you are planning to use any Multiple string cheats in Nemu for online/Offline Forget it.

It just plain does not support anything past a
80,80
81,81
50,80

(In A Nut shell)

80,81
80,81,80
81,80
81,80,80 or 81
80,50
etc
Are not supported :)

I have the same problem with perfect dark locking up. This doesn't happen on other emulators. I have managed to play in the combat simulator, but that's it. The freeze only happens when trying to enter a level. This is obviously an emulation problem, and not a rom problem (although I think I have got the PAL rom, but still, it works with PJ64 and 1964).

I used compilermode=3 and eepromsize=2048
and it works for me...
Maybe try a different plugin?
Except one little bug where going up and down ramps causes collision errors. which i am sort of working on...

Well, I'm using Jabo 1.40, so I doubt it's the plugin. I've read somewhere that european roms aren't much good because the emu's are designed for US roms. I dunno if that is true.... Can you clear that up for me?
