Okay So I have attempted to fix my sound problems for a couple of days now, and I think I have tested every possible combination of video and sound drivers imaginable. I am gonna list what I am seeing

Video:
Glide64 v0.7 ME SP1- doesnt work at all on my system
gln64- works and gives me roughly 20fps. Is this a good fps or no??
Rice's Daedalus 5.2.0 - does not work with my system. I am using atis fglrx drivers(these drivers are what gave me the 20fps above, before i was getting like 10)

Sound:
mupen64 audio plugin: gives me choppy audio at best. it will play about 2 seconds of audio cut out, and begin playing audio again
Gap Plugin: I can only get quick choppy audio out of this plugin, if I can get it to work at all. I am using ALSA so I would love to take advantage of native ALSA support, but to no avail as of yet. With some parameters mupen64 crashes(like if I set autodiscover)
jttl's SDL plugin: This produces choppy audio as well, a little faster, almost like if you were to talk through a fan. I cant really explain it, but it sucks

I am using ALSA 1.0.7 my system information via uname -a is:
Linux baby 2.6.7-1-686-smp #1 SMP Thu Jul 8 06:08:37 EDT 2004 i686
GNU/Linux

I am running Debian Unstable, My soundcard is integrated, it is currently using the CS4236 alsa driver, and is detected as a CS4237B. I think its being recognized as being on the ISA bus(alsaconf couldnt autodetect it-pnp).

Do you think that Getting a new soundcard could solve this issue?? I dont want to buy a new soundcard people dont feel it will help

Thank you in advance, great work everyone that made this program. I am new to the world of game console emulation, so everything is new to me

After reading alot of the posts, I figure that perhaps my system specs are the issue. Perhaps my processor is not quick enough to handle mupen64. If it cant, then I understand, a little dissapointed, but I understand I dont have the best computer, but it works for most of what I do as I dont do alot of gaming.

My system is:
a Dell precision 410 which has:
dual Pentium 3 @400Mhz
613mb of ram
ATI radeon 9000 pro
and 120gb harddrive

Is this perhaps not quick enough?? I have tried to renice the process, and kill alot of processes. But this had no effect. Reading other articles makes me assume that this isnt quick enough.

yea you're right that's not fast enough.. sorry. Emulation is generally requiring more power than most simple games provided with linux distributions.
