Use the N-Rage plugin (latest comes with the PJ64 1.5 service pack). You can define directions using your mouse.

yes but it's complicated to setup (in my opinion). it'd be nice if there was a plugin that "just worked" without all the config in game, etc.

i've never gotten it to run as smoothly as say quake 2.

The N64 (and it's games) weren't designed with mouse/keyboard in mind, so of course it's not a straightforward process.

Ever try setting up Quake 2 (PC) on a gamepad? Pain in the ass if you ask me. ;)

agreed. it does seem like somebody could make a plugin that completely hijacks the mouse/keyboard and makes the input operate with the same fluidity as a game pad.

it'd just be damn hard probably is all. :)

of course there are some geniuii (geniuses?) at work around here, anyway.....
