Marvel Vs Capcom

In general I have two questions. It seems when chankast is my selected window my fps slows down to between 12-25 fps however when it is not the active window (ie. firefox is open in front of chankast with it running in the background, it runs at near arcade speed with no slowdown at 60fps). Is there a way to lose the slowdown when chankast is active and play at near perfect speed?

Also I've downloaded and tried to install the utlities version 2 however no matter what folder I select it says the wrong folder is selected when I try to update. Right now my chankast and its files are located in a folder on my desktop called ROMs, must it be within something else for the update to work?

PS - What settings do other people run MvC2 to get decent rates?

You don't need Chankast Utilities with Chankast 0.25 Alpha. The reason the Utilities installation fails is because it only accepts c:\ChankastAlpha02 as the installation path.

alright, so I don't need the utlitities and I have alreay turned on the capcom hack? Any other suggestions as to how to make it run as fast when its the active window as when its not the active window? Or any other settings to try in order to try to speed up performance?

my chankast version was 0.25 like they suggested, my Marvel vs Capcom is actually a rom/iso I found online and downloaded and burnt to a CD which I use to play. I'm not sure how to check the version.

I'm not very knowledgeable in such things, it just seems awefully strange to me that when not selected the game runs at arcade pace speed but when you click on the proggie as the active program it cuts the speed in half. I know it can run at arcade speed so why dosen't it when you wanna play? Frustrating!

Strange since I can run Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 just fine. Active or inactive, window or fullscreen, it doesn't matter. In any case, what are your computer specs?

Your Dc_flash.bin file is corrupt. You'll need another one. After that, make sure that the CD-ROM plugin points to your virtual drive and try running the game again.

Note, you need to input time/date at least once, if Dc_flash.bin is not present. If it asks you twice in a row, you'll know that the file has become corrupt again.

What about your graphics card? Run dxdiag and check the Display tab in the DirectX Diagnostics Tool if you don't know where to find this info.

Chankast 4ever
You know what would I do? I'd use the MAME emulator and download Marvel VS capcom for mame. It looks better and all.

I think he's talking about MvC2 not MvC. But yeah, if he wants to play MvC, then the better choice would be MAME or any other CPS-2 emulator.

Agozer's right, it is MvC2, and it works, I'm just wondering if its a neceassary evil for it to reduce its speed so drastically between being the active window and non active window. Agozer said his worked fine and I've played it in arcades and the fun is it being so faced paced and frantic, for it to slow down so much ruins a major element in the game for me. Its also very frustrating to see it run so well in the background then run half speed when I want to play.

Agozer, any other suggestions based on my system specs/video card?

The Radeon 9600 should theoretically be enough to run the game well, but the fact that the speed drops so drastically when the Window is not active makes me think that your drivers are at fault here.

Then again, I can't really say anything for sure... Are you using official Catalyst drivers or some third party drivers (say, like Omegas)?

I just reinstalled (I think they were before) the latest ATI drivers on their site, the same problem persists as before. During gameplay what is your fps? When my window is not active I can get 75/60 and it seems almost too fast, arcadey type speed, when I have the window active I get like 27.5/60 and it seems too slow... is this the norm and I'm just being picky?

I can't remember exact numbers but I think I got somewhere between 45/60 and 75/60. The only way to cap it at 60 is to force VSync in the drivers and setting your monitor refresh rate to 60hz.

I just tried installing the latlest Omega's since the latest Catalyst drivers off the ATI website just seemed wrong to me. While the game seems to run in the 30fps now, rather than the low 20s like before its an improvement but still nothing like I would have expected? Any other suggestions from any other kind soles.

Its really frustrating to see it run so fast when not active, it makes me know my computer is capable of running it at the correct speed I just wonder why it insist on being so slow whilst its active. I also know when I first got chankast it all worked fine and I played at a normal speed enough to unlock all the characters, so I know it can be done, I just need to figure out whats changed. =(
