Lots of questions

Hi everyone. I recently discovered Dolphin and I got all fired up to start playing gamecube games on my pc. But I've been bumping into some problems...

I'm running a Pentium 4 3.00GHZ with 1GB RAM and a GeForce4 MX 4000 (128mb). Also, my OS is Windows XP 2002 version and I couldn't find out if it is 32bit or x64, so if you could help me on that I'd appretiate it. However, both versions of the dolphin run, so I'm guessing it's x64?

I've tried running Zelda WW and it runs @ 8fps on the Press Start menu. I press start and then a menu about the memory card shows up with the following: "The memory card in slot A is corrupted and needs to be formatted. Would you like to format now?" either options (yes or no) lead me to: "The memory card in slot A cannot be used with this game. The game cannot be saved. Would you like to continue anyway?" Again, either option leads me to the 1st message about formatting the card, so I can't get pass through these messages... :(

Also, I've been browsing the forums searching for many ways to make the emulator run faster and etc. I've even downloaded SVN corrections (or wtv it is called lol). But every plugin I download doesn't eveb show up on the menu... when I press 'choose plugin' the following error messages pop up: "The aplication or the DLL C:\directory\SDL.dll is not a valid image of Windows. Compare it with the instalation disk." and so on for some other plugins. If you don't recognize the error msg is because I translated it from my language to english :E.

Thanks in advance and sorry for dragging it a bit! :p

If you don't know whether you have a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows, you most likely have the former one. The reason the emulator runs slow is becuse your computer isn't fast enough. You need a dual core computer to run Dolphin at decent speeds (depending on the game).

IIRC, no Pentium 4 is 64-bit anyway, but I'm not the expert on that.

Thanks for the answer Agozer. I don't mind it not running fast, but in any case I'll try it on my laptop which is slightly better and has Vista (which should be x64 right?)

What I'm really desperate on is the Zelda WW memory card error.

Just choose format. It does not touch your hard disk! It simply formats the memory card files in the saves folder so dont worry about anything happening :) Im playing WW Fine :) If your totally freaking out about even touching that button then download and put this in Data_USA folder for the savefile to already be created so you wont get this messege :) http://www.mediafire.com/?2yonzk4jyme

Unless you specifically went out and bought a 64bit OS, and you have a processor that is 64-bit compatible (I.E. core2duo or higher, or AMD64), you have X86/32 bit system just by default, sorry to say. But apparently there isn't that much of a difference between them any more as it used to be.

But if you want to have any hope of achieving a decent speed you really need to upgrade everything. Otherwise it's just not worth it, go and buy a secondhand Gamecube. I know you're fired up to play Gamecube games on your PC but it isn't quite a reality just yet for you buddy.

Thanks both of you...

I did press "format" on the memory card menu on zelda as I stated on my 1st post, but it just gives another error and so on... Also the file you gave me didn't work...

as for the latest SVN 32bit, dolphin stops responding (not send etc. error) when I try to load Zelda.

I guess I'll just give up till I own a better computer, unless you have any ideas to fix the not responding error... thanks for all the answers!
