As I just purchased a Logitech Desktop MX (wireless, optical keyboard + mouse), I figured I needed a new mouse pad. So I started looking for reviews for quality gamepads made especially for gaming, and stumbled accross Sweclocker's review of 30 mousepads. Sweclockers is perhaps the largest hardware news/reviews site in Sweden and has a very active forum with roughly 23000 members and nearly one million posts. Probably a lot more spam than here though
The top mouse pad for optical mice was after the big test Q-Pad Gamer XXXL (look half way down on the page), a mouse pad made by Q-PAD® Profile 4U AB, a Swedish company. The cool thing about this mouse pad is that you can send in your own logo or art work, and let them print it on the pad.
The mouse pad itself is very large, making it optimal for gaming, as you have more space to move around when fraggin' and stuff.
The size of the mouse pad is 40,5x28,5cm and with our own print it costs 249 SEK (about $30) plus shipping. You can also order a normal size pad for around $25. I'm going to check with the company if they want to send me a copy to review, and if I think it's good, maybe we could order 10 pads to get a little better price. We'd put an EmuTalk or Emu64 print (one of these perhaps?) on it, and maybe hold a contest where people can submit their art work for the official Emulation64/EmuTalk mouse pad?
Winner gets an Adaptoid + mouse pad or something.
Let me know if there's interest, I know it's expensive but any serious gamer knows a mouse pad is important.
To sum it up:
XXXL Gamer mouse pad: ~$30 plus shipping
Large mouse pad: ~$15 plus shipping
If we bulk order, we'll get a better price. I've contacted the company and will hopefully hear from them tomorrow.
